Got mine today too! It's gorgeous! It hooked up to the internet fine, but haven't really gotten into that yet, been playing mainly with FBreader. I've only got a 2 gig sd card which I put my ebooks on and some pictures. Would really like to get an image viewer with a side show feature. Screen brightness is fine for me, I've actually put it really low at about a quarter brightness and I like it, if it's too bright in ebooks I find it does get hard on my eyes. I have never used linux before so have no idea with it, but I think I'm going to keep an eye on Mer and WinCE. It is a bit sluggish at times, but the FBreader works great, so far. Page turns are quick, I like using the buttons for page turning. Small thing, but I wish the stylus was situated on the other side, so when holding it landscape it would be at the top, probably just something I need to get accustomed too. Will be interested to see how people go about customizing it. Oh, and it's so tiny! I don't know I think I was expecting it to be bigger, but it's a great size, feels good reading in both landscape and portrait. Very nice size for reading books I think, from my first impressions anyway. Last edited by bjkel; 06-09-2009 at 12:02 AM. |

Well... Anyone know how to boot to console on this? I've made one change in the xorg.conf (commented out a driver) and it now won't boot into X, but it doesn't drop to console -- stuck with the splash screen frozen. (I'm trying to figure out how to rotate the screen.) I can always reflash it, but wow, that was easy! m a r |

/Sigh, I've stuffed up my wireless. It's not detecting any networks now. I suspect it's a driver problem, may of deleted something I shouldn't of. Going to wait a bit before I try to do anything about it as I am so not used to this system. | |

Q7 is a 'pc' itself. USB on it are host port, so you cannot link it to your computer with ordinary USB cable. find out the voltage of the charger, and use a universal power adapter to charge it. |

As skyfish says, the USB is for attaching devices not for connecting to computers. What I used to do on my PepperPad3 is use a USB stick to transfer files between the P3 and my Desktop. It is low-tech but it works.

In my e-mail they stated that the tracking process is available starting tomorrow; so it's probably too soon...

				Mer-0.13 on the SmartQ 7

For those who haven't seen it, here is Mer running on the Q7. We're very lucky to have the Mer team interested in porting their OS to this device. The interface is far superior to the one installed on the Q7. In particular, it's much more finger friendly. |

celtica96, Can you be a little more specific with your ARM 5 repository info? I'm having some problems when I try to load anything from several of the repositories that folks seem to be doing it from the Chinese sites. Mainly, when I try to run the Package Installer I get an error message saying that I'm missing some sort of LOOP_FILE. Thanks! Cold P.S. Many folks around here are looking for a comic book reader like cbreader or comix, and an image viewer than supports slideshow capabilities. Have you been able to get anything like these running from those repositories? |
