The Samsung S pens may be inductively charged, but I'm not sure. They don't take a battery. Apple Pencil and MS Surface are incompatible and use batteries. Some MS Pens are rechargeable and some have BT also for One Note. The basic MS two button pen with no "One Note" BT seems identical to the Kobo Pen. I have the Kobo Pen and the cheap MS Surface compatible "Adrawpen" and no difference in use / performance. Cosmetically similar. The AAAA cell might last the quoted 6 months as I've not had to replace a cell (about 20c). There may be other systems. Most, including both main kinds of Wacom (and pen on Kindle Scribe) are pressure sensitive but most applications use a threshold on pressure to turn on/off the digital ink, so will only reveal pressure with a suitable drawing app that can map pressure to density, or width or unlike the real world to hue. On Mac/PC/Linux you can use pressure to simulate quill, crayon, pencil, chalk, charcoal or pencil. Most Wacom don't do angle, but some other digitiser/stylus combos do, such as Apple Pencil, which can sort of simulate calligraphy. Front light settings and the light pipe for a front light vary hugely even on the same model. I rely on a desk lamp, room lamp or daylight unless the available light is too poor when away from home. For those wondering, per whatismyresolution.com, resolution is 1860x2480.

That is not a screenshot. It is a photograph.
Kindles generally take a screenshot (framebuffer grab) by tapping diagonal corners of the screen at the same time. The screenshot is stored on the kindle and can be copied to a computer over USB. |

My screen is really 3840 x 2160 and 23" and 16 x 9. HMDI reports it as 27". The whatismyresolution.com site reports it as 3520 x 1980. Also Quote:
It does oddly have a link to more accurate Browser report Quote:
Edit see: http://dev.jeffersonscher.com/resolution.html I have user settings in Browser to scale websites as my screen isn't HiDPI but is certainly higher DPI than 96 (what Web assumes). I have my Linux desktop set to 136 dpi, which isn't real either, but suits the Mate Desktop and main programs. Windows used to be able to scale up or down. Now it can only enlarge desktop items (set higher DPI than really exists). On screens with poor max X or Y pixels I might set Desktop DPI as low as 60 so that Windows assuming a minimum 768 height work on a 600 pixel high screen (which might be 7" or 14" physically). 1860 x 2480 is also the resolution of all built-in sceensaver images inside the firmware binary from Amazon's page.

So the Scribe screen is 10.3 inches or is a bit under 304 DPI. |

Created an initial page on the wiki:
https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kindle_Scribe The big thing I'm curious about is what is the difference between "PDF (adjustable layout) and "PDF original layout" on the link from the page: https://www.amazon.com/sendtokindle |

I am curious whether anyone with a Scribe has tried reading print replica books that are normally disallowed on e-ink Kindle devices. There was some speculation that these books were restricted due to the small screen size of Kindles and that Amazon might allow them to be read on a Scribe.
I took a look at a textbook published last year and it still shows "This title is not supported on Kindle E-readers" in the description. I obtained the free sample and Download and Transfer to any of my e-ink Kindles is not allowed. (Who Am I in the Lives of Children? ) I also tried a borrowed print replica book available from Kindle Unlimited and was also unable to send it to a Kindle. (Finding the Named Stars) I suspect that those books will also not work on a Scribe but it would be nice to have confirmation from a Scribe owner. |

I can confirm that print replica books don't work on the Scribe.

For full parity, it would also need to support Flashcards, which is a feature of the Kindle apps but not of Kindle devices. This lets you assemble key points of a book for later review (I have yet to use this feature myself). |
