It is just an observation without known cause, most often seen with the PW3 model.

As far as speculation goes (Amazon does not advise us of their design decisions), my guess is that it is the result of legal requirements in Germany.

The laws governing the access an owner of a computer operated device are different.

Well, got mine today - G0000 S209.. WiFi/3G
From eBay 2nd hand, so - faaar too late, as it has 5.9.5
Blocked updates for the future and will see that maybe one day.

My Oasis FW is 5.9.2.0.1
Serial G000P8
I bought it new in Germany. No Update until now.
Is it possible to Jailbreak?

Hello, I have a KOA2 with 5.9.2.0.1 firmware. I'm not sure if it came out of the box with one of the firmwares mentioned above (5.9.0.5.1 or 5.9.0.6). is it still possible to try to install a factory 5.9.0.6 or will it brick my KOA2?

just took the time to read privious posts... never mind my question. if you need to do some testings on 5.9.2.0.1 count me in, I have a spare KOA2 that I'm not affraid to brick. thanks

I bought a KOA2 through amazon.de
Firmware: 5.9.2.01
SN: G000 SA14 #### ####

32gb WiFi only.

Can this version be jailbroken. Did I understand Knc1 correctly that devices bought through amazon.de can be jailbroken? Is there a reason for this?

Wasn't able to install the factory .bin file, the file got deleted the moment i remove the usb.

The "master" of all format versions is the *.lyx (LyX document processor).

Notes:
  • KOA2 devices have started to ship with firmwares more recent than the two versions listed at the top of the directions. We can not jail break those (yet).
  • People still need to PM me for the password to the files.
    But please read the complete directions first.
  • The problem I had with my unregistered KOA2 was not the fault of the Kindle.
    There was a strange problem with my PC.
