Now see, this is why I say ...

that I am a sh*t magnet. If it doesn't happen to me ... it happens around me. All I wanted to do was get a few things at Walmart. Just a couple of cans of Krylon paint and a few more plastic boxes. That's it .... in and out in a few minutes.

So, I'm standing next to a lady in the paint aisle when fate decides to deal her a heart attack. I immediately go into "rescue" mode. Check for pulse ... none ... make certain airway is clear, and start CPR.

Paramedics came in about 10 minutes .... I had a pulse by then, and of course they kicked me out of the paint aisle so they could work. And then I realized ... I didn't put the paint in my cart before she went down for the count, and I can't get back into the paint aisle until they finish.

So .... read on the Kindle until the aisle is clear, now a 10 minute errand has turned into a 40 minute adventure. Then, go to the car and realize that the cap has come off of a $20 pump spray gallon of scorpion killer. Lovely, now no scorpion will ever dare to enter my automobile again.

Hop on by Home Depot (for the 1000th time this week) and get more scorpion killer. Make it home, feed the cat, put the first coat of sealer on the remainder of the back porch. Then go by the Moon's for a very stiff drink (and I swear, they put at least half a cup of pure vodka in that thing), and then make my way home to put the second coat of sealer on the back porch.

I'm going to clean litter boxes, put a load of laundry in and then go to bed. That's it for me today .... I'm knackered. Here I could have sworn that Hadrian's Wall ended at York and I'm too tired to look it up, and if Lazy Scot say's it isn't ... then I must be wrong, and I hate to be wrong. It just turns my universe all inside out.

Nite everybody. Don't get into any trouble while I'm gone .... K??

You certainly did a good deed today, Ricky.
But I'm afraid that Hadrian's Wall is well north of York:

Right now I am scanning through a letter kindly delivered to me by the postman.

It's from the European Lottery Fund (Bonuz.79 International lotto), and it says my ticket has won Euros 985,950.00.
Problem is I've got to go to Spain to pick it up these winnings.....

Question to the wise and wonderful:
Do I place the letter into file 13,
compost it,
burn it,
shred it,
eat it,
give it away (my name is on the envelope, but not on the letter), or
put it into the cat's litter tray......
put it next to the blue one in the corner?

Oh well .... I was almost close. Maybe I linked them together because I went over the place going from York to Edinburgh while I was still mostly dead.

Good deed?? No, not really ... after years and years of working in that setting, you just go on automatic pilot when faced with certain situations. Frankly, I was so hot and so tired I don't remember half of it.

To me a "good deed" is where you do something with the actual intent to help someone (you know ... helping the old lady across the street). Being a freaking zombie doing CPR in the paint aisle of Walmart is just a knee jerk reaction with me. Sort of like saying "Hi, how're ya doing?" when passing someone on the street.

No but we did find arrowheads and grinding stones. Does that count for anything?? I know the Comanche weren't quite as big on huge stone and concrete constructions like the Romans ... but some of the stuff you can find digging around here is interesting (if nowhere as old).

arrowheads? metal or stone?
grinding stones? granite?

how do you know how old it is? - what was the earliest artifact found for the Comanche and their brothers?

I was just posting an announcement about the Meet-up next Saturday in Herndon for the Washington, DC area MobileRead Meet-up. Not a hoedown, just a casual meeting with good drinks, great food, and a lot of new friends that we have known for years but never met.

Arrowheads are stone ... grinding stones are very likely granite. This whole area is on gigantic deposits of granite and marble. You walk down the trails and you can see pieces of pink marble peeking out from under the dirt.

I kept two of the grinding stones ... they interest me. I gave the arrowheads to a friend who collects them.

Seriously .... I have no idea how old they could be. I don't know that much about the history of the Comanche, although I have read about Quanah Parker and I know that there was a woman taken captive and held by the Comanche at Longhorn Cavern ... but that's all relatively recent history.

Short answer .... dunno.

On the list for today ...

Paint the last of the kitchen cabinets;
Start painting the pantry;
Clean and paint the wine rack;
Finish and mount the chalkboard frame for the office;
Read a while and then fall into a coma.

Already half way to the coma ... may need a nap in there somewhere.

Is that before, or after, you've drunk the contents?
