Thanks Itimpi but I need step by step guidance to understand what you are explaining me because I do not get what I need to do sice I followed the procedure from this forum as follows:
Getting your books into Stanza:
This is surprisingly easy. Do not try to open each book in Stanza desktop and then 'share' to your iPhone. Takes time, covers get lost, and some LIT files will not open. Rather:
Use settings in Calibre (minute hammer button in top right area) to check the 'Content Server' is started
Make sure your iPhone and PC are on the same WiFi network
In Stanza iPhone, choose 'Online Catalog', then the '+' button in bottom right
Choose 'Add Stanza Catalog', and enter a name (eg My PC library) then
http://192.168.1.2:8080/stanza
The red text needs to be the IP of your PC on the wifi network. [add a link sometime on how to find this]
Now download each book - 1x1 I'm afraid unless someone can suggest how to do this faster...

But I am still struggling with this issue with any good result.

Help!!!!!

You do not mention how far you have got and what the current symptoms are? This sort of information is needed to give sensible guidance.

I think I am going wrong somewhere, the only types of books I can send to my prs600 are .pdfs, everything else, it converts or tries to send and the jobs work forever and nothing actually ?

The files you can send to your device are

lrf, lrx, epub, Adobe drm'd epub, rtf, txt, pdf Adobe drm'd pdf

If you try to send any other file types to your 600 Calibre tries to convert the file prior to transfer and it could take a long time. Make sure to convert any files to an appropriate format before you send the file. Also view the converted file in the Calibre viewer to ensure it looks the way you want it to look.

Let us know how it works.

You do realize you have to convert your book to a format the device can read before using the send to device. If the book doesn't have a supporting format for that device nothing will be sent.

You can also go into the calibre configuration... go to the plug-in configuration then to Device Interface plug-ins. Choose the plug-in for you device and click on the Customize Plug in button. There is a list of the books the device supports. You can select which ones you want sent to the device, change the priority order too.

The problem was actually... windows 7. It seems that every time I was plugging in the reader, W7 wanted to check it for errors - once I allowed it to scan the reader once, it was fine. I didn't notice because a windows notification doesn't pop up as on Vista and XP, it simply flashes once on the quick launch bar and if you aren't looking, you don't notice it...

Up until I read about Calibre in one of the forums I had never heard about it. But every comment (almost!) seems to be positive! After looking at the website, I may be interested in using Calibre. Just a couple questions: If I understand it correctly, this is not a place to order books...are there sites that are recommended that do not give problems? Do I need to have Sony's software installed (I HATE it!) to use Calibre? Is there anything else I may want to know in order to make a semi-educated decision?

I have the fetch news set to "delete older than 1 day" yet, I still find that I have days of news on my device ? where am I going wrong? The older news doesn't appear in the calibre library but still appears on the device?

So I end up with Engadget (for example) for today, yesterday, the day before - where am I going wrong?

The "delete older than 1 day" option removes it from your Calibre Library not from your device. Once you have read a news item use the delete feature on your device to delete that news item you want gone.

I've done that but they all reappear the next day, that's what I find puzzling - so for example this morning, the 24th, 25th and 26th news appeared on the device, even though the 24th and 25th news was not on either device or in the library - very strange

I don't have a 600... try delete news on send and see if things change.

Thank you for Calibre. It's great fun.
Is there anyway I can stop it from listing everything on my BeBook when I start up?

No, but if you want to speed up the listing, you can disable reading metadata in preferences->plugins->device interface plugins
