My sticks arrived yesterday. Now all I need is a TV or monitor with HDMI ports. |

I can report that the video quality of this stick, for Amazon Prime and Netflix video, appears to be the same quality as the Fire TV I use upstairs. The interface may be slightly slower, or it may be my imagination. I powered it through the included wall adapter. For the price I am very impressed. |

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/t...TKEY=AFOXDIG01 http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optim...ewing_distance 2- Since you don't need a SmartTV and 3D buys you nothing for streaming you'll find plenty of 40in Black Friday options in your price range. How about a 32" TV for $79? Amazon will have one for BF. So will Walmart. I hope to pick one up for the spare bedroom.

Apparently the Fire Stick is AnyNet capable if you have a Samsung tv. I have the Fire Stick hooked to our bedroom tv just to play with a bit. In the middle of the night my cat jumped onto my nightstand and stepped on the Fire remote. All of a sudden the tv turns on, switches input and lights up the room! Then when I jumped out of bed to turn the tv off (because the tv remote was on the wife's nightstand) it gave me a quick "disconnecting AnyNet device" screen. |

I was really hoping to get one of the $79 ones from Amazon but they seem to be mum on what time it will be available since I assume it will sell out rather quickly.

I would check 8pm Thursday night, which is when the Walmart TV is for sale. But it should show on the deals page in the hours before hand.

A couple of years back, Vizio was basically saying its TVs were unrepairable. So if the set had a problem out of warranty, you were stuck with needing to buy a new set (in warranty, it would be replaced). I don't know if this has changed, but it might be something to consider, especially for the higher-priced models. I had a Vizio with an extended warranty that was unrepairable last year; the extended warranty company replaced it with a different brand. |
