I have a theory/feeling that allmost all the issues of the device come from the faulty battery. Maybe including the touchscreen issues (where I've noticed that the touchscreen is more accurate when it's plugged in).
The battery seems to have a weird chemistry where it discharges non-linearly and I think sometimes just doesn't have enough power at all, that's when you get into the coma behaviour or the reboot loop.

While it's true the the Android core could be optimized more for the power consumption, that's just one angle.
I'm afraid the other is the faulty battery
At least I'm sure I have one, and from the data you're showing (that looks just like mine) I would say you do too (

Your theory makes a lot of sense. I've also thought about it. But then again I have absolutely no bootloop issues, but do have TS issues.

And yes I totally agree that if there's a HW issue, SW remedies are almost useless.

Weird, non-linear discharging can occur on Android devices. Once in a while I'm shocked to see my phone nearly discharging itself overnight from 100% recharged the previous evening. Then suddenly, everything is ok again. My pet theory is that sometimes Android attempts some internal house keeping, which makes it use up a lot of battery in a couple of hours or so.

My pet theory is that its calibration is just out of balance, as it hasn't been cycled more than a couple of times... We'll see. Doing a new stress test now

I am a new commer. Sorry for poor english.
I bought a M96 from ereader-store.de. From the first update(maybe July),
I cannot select a word correctly on PDF and Djvu files.(currently 2014-09-26)
ex.
I select a word 'correct',but only 'correc' is selected(the last character 't' is not included.).
So I want to look up a dictionary,but I cannot.
When I read the same book on EZPDF ,the word is selected correctly.
Does anyone have the same problem?

Which app are you using to read the pdf? If you use Neo Reader there are options like "smart" or "precise" for text selection

Can't you just edit the word or maybe type in the new one quickly?

That's what I do on any e-ink or tablets if some pdfs are similarly problematic e.g. a whole line gets selected instead of one particular word.

If I couldn't open a dictionary without a correct (full) word selected in the first place (depending on device or app used) then I would just tap the closest "the" or "a" etc. just to be able to open a dictionary and then would type the new word in instead, or only a first few letters if dictionary offered list of words.

If pdf is scan without ocr layer then dictionary can be opened using menus, hopefully quickly.

Yes,I can edit a word.
Before the first update,I could select a word correctly by long touch on the same book.
But now I cannot.
I learn English,so I always want to use a quick look up dictionary.
That's why I bought M96.

Does anyone has any idea about the support for hyperlinks inside PDFs in the updated NEO reader (M96)? I just can't find descriptions for previous updates, before the latest one..

When selecting text, a popup appears, containing the text, some buttons (copy, highlight etc) and the line "selection mode: Intelligent, Precise". This is what I meant.. Don't you get these?

I tried it,but it doesn't solve the problem.
I checked the intelligent mode,but when I selected a word at the next time,the check was disappered. The precise mode is the same.
When I touch a word ,
the last character of selected word isn't always included.

Is there anyone who has the same problem?

Yes, this happens also with me. Scribble mode disappears sometimes when I put the stylus on the screen for scribbling. I have to select the scribble menu again.

Here's an idea for the future development of M96 firmware: It would be absolutely marvelous if boldfacing worked on a system level so that we could turn it on in the browser or any other application. Such a huge leap forward it seems for a universal device with an E-ink display! What do you think guys? Or maybe Mr. Booxtor could find a minute to comment on this?
