Its wierd sometimes how I can't find a book by title, but find it by author, sometimes I find it, then not again and later its back.
I browse Sribd by romance-most recent often to see what was added and within a day stuff that was there as recent is suddenly gone again. Poof.

There seems to be some fluctuation going on. At least the gone books are still as place holders in the library so I can search for them again if I need to later.

Smash usually opts us in automatically to new markets--then they send a notice and you have to go opt out. I think. I know it used to work that way although right now, I'm half-remembering that for SCRIBD...we might have had to opt in?

But if she is in both places it might have opted her in twice!

Their search is wonky. I do a search on one of my titles and sometimes it might be on the second page. Under Witch Moon is finally showing up as the third book or so when searched on using the exact title. (The ones in front of it are not the exact same title as mine, but mine still isn't first.) I think they are improving it, but it could also be a random thing. I have had better luck using the author name. But maybe that was random luck too!

Some nice changes on Scribd. Now when you browse for books and hover on it, to add it to the library you just click the plus sign on the top. And you can now add to collections right from the same place after its added to library. Before I had to go into my library to do that. Nice touch.

eta; and it looks like total e-bound (totally bound) added a lot of their catalog. They are mostly erotic romance with many subgenres from time travel, bollywood, historicals etc.
I don't think I ever read one of theirs.

On smashwords, you MUST pay for a book (with cash or a coupon) for it to actually stick to your library. You can "bookmark" free books, but they can be yanked from your library if the author changes the listing, raises the price above free, etc. Some of those manipulations probably affect the ScribD listings .. or authors figure out how to list with Draft2Digital and remove them from Smashwords (which often has wonky formatting).

I just discovered that myself. I actually found it quite annoying that books which I thought I "had" (because they were in my library) suddenly had sample and buy buttons.

Interesting. I think I only used smashwords once in the past, can't even remember the sign in. It was a free book and I put it in calibre right away.

I guess if stuff disappears I'll just find something else to add to my library. Plenty of books thankfully.

I got a new Scribd update on my Nexus from google store. Its now at 3.6.0

I don't see any difference in the reading settings, but the rest of the app got a nice facelift it seems. The way you add stuff to the library and the device changed a bit. Seems spiffier now.

Still really happy with the subscription and will for sure keep it after my trial runs out. I hope they can keep the publishers on board for the future.

I do wish though they'd fix the recently read clearing history issue. I clear the books out and they keep coming back. So if you by accident open a book instead of just looking at the blurb, it gets added to the recently read and I can't get them to go away.

I hate that, too. And the text is too light. My sub is up in 3 days and I am going to cancel. If they add fonts or just bolding of the current fonts, I'd like to know.

Yes, do please keep us informed on fonts and darkness of the text if you will. I still have my sub, but I've kind of moved on. I can't read the books comfortably online. It might be different if I had a tablet, but the black simply isn't black enough and my eyes start to hurt.

I like the changes too and seems to be less battery hog with the new update. Also search works much better.

I found a whole bunch of new books to read with it.

For people like me who forget almost every date/event when it comes to money , generate a virtual credit card and be done with it (you can set the expiry date of the virtual credit card).

Yes, mine renewed first thing yesterday morning. Ooops! So I'll keep it another month. I already cancelled the automatic renewal. I'll make an effort to use it during the month I have left.

I had checked 3 days before my free trial ran out, and it said I would lose those 3 days. So I waited. Then when I checked my email yesterday morning, it showed the renewal. Going to Scribd then, and cancelling, it showed that I now am cancelled but still have until August 17th to use the service. So I guess it differs when using the free vs paid.

I think it does differ (It does with places like Depositphotos where I buy artwork, but have also had free trials). Since you actually PAID for the month, they can hardly take it away from you without giving you a refund!
