I got a $5.00 credit so I could buy coins. I bought coins and it's only that damn one click so I can't see how something is paid for until after I pay. I rarely buy Kindle books for this very reason. Of course I was charged for the coins so I guess it's back to Amazon chat again.

I can see how they were confused as it look like you said you bought a kindle book with coins. Remember these are not native English speaking people you must speak plain and clear when chatting with them.

Now I'm confused. How did it look like I bought a Kindle book with coins? I wish I could - I have almost 4500 coins.

She contacted Amazon & instead of just giving her the coins they gave her a credit. She tried to use said credit to buy the coins. Credit wasn't applied to the coin purchase. She dislikes One-Click because if a regular checkout could be used she would have known that it was going to charge her card & not use the credit. She mentioned in passing why she dislikes One-Click & that it also often stops her from buying Kindle books. The problem I think really lies in the first CS contact. They gave a $5 app credit, which can basically be used like coins are, but can not be used to buy coins. | |

I get that, but AFAIK app store credits can only be used to buy apps or in-app purchases (I've never been able to use them on anything else) so they shouldn't have told you that or should have given you a general account credit.

Just going by personal experience. I once tried to use an app credit to buy coins and couldn't. Guess they don't want people in general to be able to take a credit and basically make money on it (albeit not much, 4-10%) by buying coins.

Not anymore. I'm back down to 3969 coins and will get a refund to my credit card for the purchase of the 500 coins. I still have the $5.00 app store credit. But credits don't last very long do they?

They don't; but I don't know how long - possibly 30 days? Coins are good for a year, so they're much better to have than appstore credits.
