Which isn't going to happen since they are now offering them for sale through ebook retailers (well, Fictionwise at least haven't looked elsewhere).

And just to show they still don't "get it", using Crystal Rain as an example, the ebook has a list price of $14 at FW, while you can get it in paperback (or kindle edition) for $7.99

For Old Man's War the ebook list is also $14 while the paperback is $6.99 and kindle edition is $4.65 (list of $6.99).

How long does it take to get an email back from Tor? I signed up on Sunday and I haven't heard anything yet.

Also, what other books have I been missing? I mean there must have been a couple more released in the last couple weeks that haven't yet been mentioned in this thread. The site says this week is Through Wolf's Eyes by Jane Lindskold and next week is The Disunited States of America by Harry Turtledove.

Is it really coming next week? Eww.

I've read this novel. It was written as part of a "young adult" series of novels, and Mr. Turtledove's writing style has been dumbed down to a "young adult" reading level. (I'm not entirely certain what level that is. I, for one, read Kafka and Hesse in the 8th grade.)

Anyone who hasn't read any of his work should avoid this novel. You will get a false impression. The rest of his work is much better. If you have read Mr. Turtledove before, then you will likely be disappointed.

If someone wants to read his work, then I would recommend that you start with "The Guns of the South", "In The Presence of Mine Enemies", or "Ruled Britannia". These are 3 well written stand-alone novels, and will give you a chance to see if you like his writing style.

Nate, to your list I would Household Gods. I've read everything Turtledove has written except short stories (for some reason I don't like to read short stories) and think Household Gods is where he made the best use of his academic background (he's a professor of ancient history). I also rather liked his Krispos series. I'm currently waiting for his new book to be released. I believe it is due this month.

And while we're listing Turtledove series, the entire 191 Timeline, starting with "How Few Remain" and moving all the way through 10 more books to "In at the Death" is a great and fun series.

For some reason the latest Tor book, Reiffen's Choice by S. C. Butler, has not appeared in my mail box. I understood it was to appear yesterday. Am I the only one missing it? Not complaining, mind you; I do appreciate the books. But I am curious.

Yes, thank you, I have had other things go into my bulk folder, and I did check. And I checked all the other usual suspects--every folder. But just not there. I'll wait and see what happens next Friday. Oh well.

I didn't get the e-mail yet either. I sent a message to Tor about it, so let's see if they get back to me.

I did get my Tor email today which had this week's book as well as last week's. Now I just need to happily put them through the KovalGrinder

Jon: Thank you for the offer--it was much appreciated--but I waited to see if I was still on the list

gnuckers, I had to remove the links you put up to the email on the web. If anyone wants to get a copy, they can PM you an email address and you can use the email this to a friend link to send it. I don't want to possibly mess up Tor's download accounting. The more accurate it is, the better for eBooks it might be.
