Yup, I just changed the extensions.cfg with the formats I use:
Quote:
But, it can't be used for regular epubs (text books) as text isn't a picture. So, we can only see the picures (if the epub file has any) if the epub line is written. But since jpg, png and bmp are only images, they don't give any problem. And since I've updated the cfg I'm able to see the png and jpg files within the folders, which is wierd, I thought I could see them from the start as my pb is supposed to see them (it sees them in the gallery app and it's written on the website's page in "format". Maybe it means it can read them within epub and other formats. Or maybe I had a bug. Yeah, I know ssh a little, I used it to transfer files on my iPod some years ago.... PocketBook devices have their own application for viewing images, which is why you saw the images listed before. Adding the lines in the extensions.cfg file just switches the image viewing app from the default one to pbimageviewer. The system has a default extensions.cfg file saved in a read-only partition. It reads the /system/config/extensions.cfg file first to see if the suffix matches, and if not, it reads the default extensions.cfg file next.
Your config line for "epub" makes it impossible to read normal (text) EPUB documents. Do you plan on never reading ordinary text EPUB files? |

Nope, what I'm saying is, before adding the cfg line or even pbimageviewer I wasn't able to see them at all!
You bet! No, I'm kidding. As soon as I saw this problem I erased that epub line. That brings me one question, since you seem to know a lot about pockebooks, maybe you can help me, or say what I try to do is impossible. I can change the booting image and the shuting down image, but what I want to change is the sleeping mode image. I searched this image(it's named tea-off I think), I only found it in the logo directory (which is use for a lot of things I guess) and replaced it, but nothing changes. So, is the sleeping mode picture stored in the rom partition? |

I don't know anything about replacing the sleep mode image. If you install the utelnetd application, you can telnet to the device and see all of the filesystem, rather than just what is exported over USB. You can also use the pbterm application to get a command-line shell on the device if you don't have WiFi.
It's too bad the new version 5 firmware no longer supports making choices of the reading application via the "Open with..." menu. One could then open comic epub files with pbimageviewer, and text epub files with one of the usual EPUB reading applications. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like PocketBook offers a version 4 firmware for the Sense. Maybe they'll put back the old "Open with..." functionality at some point. |

I think the sleeping mode picture is stored in the theme file.
Edit: This is a custom theme which changes the sleep image: http://www.the-ebook.org/forum/viewt...136768#1136768 |

Ouuups. I tried a theme that doesn't work. But now I can't access the options anymore so I have no way to revert it. (The buttons have disappeared :S ).
Is there a safe mode or anything? |

Connect to PC and delete the theme file. It will revert to the default theme.

Hum... That's what I did. Unfortunately, it didn't revert to the default theme.
Instead it was another theme (the same as safe mode, which I was able to find) but still no options buttons. So I had no options left but download the last firmware and re-install it. Surprisingly, the only thing I lost is the "Recent Books" history. None of my ebooks, settings, nor pbimageviewer were gone. So, good news! And thanks for the help! |

I uploaded a new version with the missing translations for the latest features (thanks again to PascalV, dtanis and seiichiro0185). I am pleased to announce a brand new Polish translation by @freeshadow, which pleases me very much! I've also added a config file for the 630 (Sense) to the device_cfg.zip package.
The website now contains a debug version for the firmware version 5 devices, in case anyone wants to run it in gdb on those devices. |

Hi rkomar, I have two questions.
Is it normal for cbz/cbr to not show the cover? I know it doesn't store metadata, but it could show the first image of the archive as cover in the library app (and in most cases the first image is the actual cover). Maybe I do something wrong but all I get is blank covers with title. I though since the end of the line :cbz:@ZIP_file:1 bimageviewer.app:ICON_JPG was for using the first JPG in the file as cover icon but maybe I'm wrong. Then, for the page choosing popup. At first, when I touch "go to page" (or something like that), nothing happens. I have to touch the center of my screen to make it appear. Then, It's pretty small, it makes it difficult to choose digits. Then, appart if I just chose the icon that makes me go back to the first or the last pages ( << or >>), I have to use the left arrow <- to delete the digit I seem to have chosen when I made the popup appear (Even if it was invisible, it seemed to work and have stored the digit I have pushed to make it appear). I don't know if's I'm explainning myself correctly, english isn't my native language as I'm french, but I'm trying. The main problem is, it doesn't show the numbers I typed, which let me to go the last page when I type 90 (Not seeing the numbers I typed, I have to guess it stored the number I pushed to make the pop up appear, and it tried to take me to the page 590 or something like that). So am I doing something wrong or is there a bug here? |

"ICON_JPG" just specifies which icon is showed for books of that type within the library and "last opened" list on older firmware versions. For example, on my old 902, the icon is a little image of a page with "JPG" over top of it. It seems to be ignored in newer versions of the UI. It has nothing to do with the thumbnail images associated with ebooks.
I don't know of any way getting the library app to use the first image as the thumbnail. I think that the program that scans the books on the reader just has no support for zip/rar archives. It doesn't know how to handle them. I am aware of the problem with the "go to page" keyboard, but I don't know how to fix it. New native applications don't seem to use that keyboard dialog anymore. However, I don't see a replacement for it within the SDK, so I don't know how to call up the new paging interface. The best thing I can suggest is that you use the Table of Contents (called up with the Menu button) to go to other pages. I'll take another look at the SDK to see if I can figure out which function call brings up the menu with the page selector in it. |

I changed the "go to page" dialog to use a plain numeric keyboard rather than the PageSelector dialog on newer devices. This should fix the problem with the dialog being hidden. The numeric keyboard doesn't have the keys for jumping to the beginning or end of the book. Instead, just enter '0' or '1' to go to the beginning, and enter a big number (e.g. "99999") to go to the end.
