Well, the great hair dye adventure of June 2011 didn't go quite as planned. Fortunately, my freak flag was already at half-mast, so I've got no problems rockin' this look until I get around to fixing it. Unfortunately, my entire collection of cosmetics was purchased for a pale auburnsih brunette, not a blinding ginger freakshow...

Can I get some advice from y'all? There's this girl I grew up with in PA. We were tight until I was like 18 or so, and we've stayed in touch. We're Facebook friends and all that. I get the feeling she's being a little judgmental. I don't like this. I should be admired for my sense of whimsy, not judged for it. (No, I did not write that with a straight face. Puhleeze!) But seriously - respect the crazy!! We make life fun dammit!

So what should I do? Assuming she's just jealous (she has to be - I'm awesome!!), I feel like I need to do something. So far I've come up with the following ideas to carry out on Facebook:

• Post my waist & hip measurements (I can't win with the "up top" number) and expound on the mystical properties of the resulting ratio;
• Post a picture of my a$$ now, next to my a$$ in high school and dare anyone to tell which is which;
• Post a picture of me drinking with a famous country singer with the caption, "Famous people love me";
• Post a status update mentioning that time I did a liquor store run for Kiefer Sutherland and how appreciative he was;
• Post a status update mentioning that yes, I still smoke, and yes, I can still sing my a$$ off. I do not fear death, only mediocrity.

She wants to be petty? I can do petty. I can do a virtual b****slap like nobody's bidnazz. Give her a little World Wide Wazzup. Hm.

(Again, don't take this seriously. Tongue firmly in cheek. The part about her being judgmental is true. Everything else is just me trying to make myself feel better and laugh it off. And Kiefer just said "thank you, hon" but she doesn't know that. And I do drink with famous people. This is Nashville and many of my friends are road musicians - it's almost unavoidable. You can't swing a stick without hitting a famous person. Or someone I've dated. Er, um...)

My normal method is take the high road, but I've been known to indulge in the "guilt trip"... Let me explain.
A few days ago I was looking through some pictures on Facebook from my coworkers. Six Flags, parties, etc. And wondering why I am NEVER invited to any of this stuff. So one of the girls that went to Six Flags (the one that posted the pictures, anyway) came in as a customer last night. VERY loudly I told her I had a bone to pick with her and wondered why they didn't invite ME to go to Six Flags. She got all flustered and said it was another girl's trip - she didn't invite anyone, she was an invitee. Therefore, the "guilt trip".

I don't do judgemental. At all, ever. I'm a firm believer in live and let live and if you don't tell me, it's probably not my business, and if you DO tell me, it's still not my place to tell you what to do. So - basically, you judge me, you don't get to be my friend, and since I too, am awesome, it's your loss.

This IS me taking the high road - I came here to get it off my chest and have a laugh in the process, so that I don't feel the need to retaliate elsewhere. It's waaaay more fun that way, and no one gets hurt in the process. I don't do arguments and confrontation unless it's something REALLY important, and being chided for my freak side doesn't warrant a fight with someone 800 miles away. I'm too busy having fun! Now, if she did it on my turf, it might be different.

You're pretty darn awesome yourself, you know, and too. Yeah, everyone needs a place to vent (hence the existence and continued use of the "Vent and Rant' thread here, LOL). Glad we could help in that regard. Getting it off your chest sometimes, as you said, IS the high road, or at least helps to make it easier to take that high road. I should probably do it more often, myself.

Aww, thanks! And I am so glad I have this place to run to when I need to unload or just see a virtual friendly face. I bet if more people learned how to vent their frustrations in a safe manner, the world would not be as scary as it is today. Well, I'll still be in the world, so there's that...

Yes, there are cat fights on Facebook. I don't participate in them. They can be amusing to watch, though. I try to keep my Facebook free of drama. I only like funny drama.

And no, of course nothing I could post would do ANYTHING. I am going to change my profile pic, but I was planning that anyway. My technique only works on people who get my sense of humor - like all of you here. Everyone else just thinks I'm nuts.

I'm doing an informal photo shoot later today. (My roommate needs a FB profile photo so we're going to play dress-up like little kids.) I will make sure you get an a$$ shot. It will be a denim-clad, fully covered a$$ shot, though. I always get the giggles if I try to be sexy or glamorous. I don't know if I can find a "before" shot but I guarantee, it's the same size it was then. Everything is. Well, my sense of humor is bigger and my BS tolerance is smaller, but other than that...

Facebook is a mixed blessing as I've noted many times. Like all text based communication, sometimes it's hard to guess people's real motivations. Like the girl from high school who absolutely HATED me asking for an add - I did it but still am puzzled as to why she wanted me on her friends list. Or the one who once cussed me up one side and down the other posting about how "more people need Jesus" (I nearly lost my lunch over that one). Oh, and then there was when I found out (via Facebook) that the first guy I ever kissed is gay....(do NOT go there. You will NOT like it.).
Some people hate it, think it's a terrible invasion of privacy and won't touch it with a ten foot pole. I enjoy it (but I don't play the games or do any of the causes stuff), but I use it for keeping up with "my" authors and people from Texas and sometimes my coworkers. I've found out about more hometown stuff on Facebook though than I ever would have from calling my cousin who LIVES there, so I find it useful. Not to mention it's highly entertaining to have the mayor of my hometown on my friend's list... LOL.
