Yeah,

I don't understand why Amazon did not put buttons on the touchscreen model. Patent issues, saving manufacturing cost and pieces? I don't get it.

The new form factor and weight is very appealing to me, but I prefer the 3G model. However, buttons only on the wifi version only.

I'm not overly impressed with touch screens. I prefer page turn buttons, simple as that. I think this model is going to sell very well. It's very light, fast and portable.

Pro tip for those of you in Canada like myself, the Kobo Touch has the exact dimensions of the new Kindle (non touch). You can use any of the Kobo touch cases or covers on the new Kindle. Cheaper than some of the Amazon covers. I picked up this travel case for $25

, as long as you use, as i do, the letter/number input minimally (for me it's just page/location input and jumping around the book list).

it's a reader

I have to agree

I was disappointed to see that it did not have page turn buttons

For me even 25 $ is too much. It's like 1/3 or 1/4 of the device value. My phone is more expensive than Kindle but the case is 3 $. Of course Kindle is bigger, but still it could cost 10 $. I don't care about pretty or anything, just something to keep kindle safe. Are there any actually reasonable priced covers? Nothing fancy. I hope there will be something in November (buying kindle then)

The K4 is so small and light and the back so "grippy" that you do not have to hold it in place with your thumb. Just place it in your palm so that your thumb is in a good place to press the next page button.

For some reason, I can do this more quickly with my left hand than with my right hand. Neither is automatic or natural yet. It may work out that the buttons are exactly like they should be, but my hands seem to want to push down from the top or directly from the side. Neither of those work, it has got to be at about a 45 degree angle.

Holding with both hands, turning pages feels natural right off the bat, as does using the K4 flat on a table or desk.

You would have to look for some generic 3rd party carrying case or cover in that case. None of the Amazon covers will be that cheap.

Agreed I don't want to pay more then $20 for a case. I am getting mine from Ebay.

Fingerprints! I can't bear reading my Kindle with fingerprints on the screen. It doesn't matter on backlit devices like my iPhone - although it looks a mess when it's switched off, when it's on, the backlight makes them invisible. With the front-lit Kindle, every smudge on the screen stands out and distracts me from my reading.

This is why I wouldn't want a touch screen. Though like a lot of you I would have liked it if they'd kept page turn buttons on the touch as an option. If they had I'd have probably thought about getting the touch for the extra $20.

Well my K4 has just shipped!

I paid for shipping but it was shipped via Fed Ex Smartpost!

I had hoped for UPS. When did Amazon start using Smartpost for paid shipping?

I guess I should be glad it's not UPS Basic. I've lost stuff when it's shipped that way.

The way the 650 does it with the swipe helps with the fingerprints. You do get more fingerprints with a tap then a swipe. Do you know if the K4 is a tap or a swipe or either?
