I am gearing myself up for having to put down holly wreaths at my Grandparents and Godparents graves, then visit the city centre (something I absolutely hate) to hopefully get a couple of presents I can't find elsewhere at all, come home and collapse in exhaustion before attending the Christmas Craft Fair at my nephews school which I was basically press ganged into attending last night.
I see an tiring day in my future, no need for a crystal ball here this time. |

I just had a good cry.
A couple of months ago it started leaking in my room when it rained for a while. Before it happened once or twice a year when there was a hard wind from a certain direction but now it started leaking when it wasn't windy. We cleared the attic where the leak was but by then it didn't rain so we couldn't check where it was leaking (the window or maybe a loose/shifted/broken tile). Three weeks ago it started raining again and leaking. I told my father and he checked, it's leaking above the window but it's also wet underneath the window in the roof. He doesn't dare to open the window because it's so old. He told me that he's either going to ask the builder who lives nearby or his best friend who is also a builder and has contact with a good roofer. I bumped into the neighbour earlier this week when shopping and asked him to come by but he hasn't and my father is now ignoring the problem. I can understand that he's stressed, he's getting his dentures tomorrow, it's the busiest time of the years, etc. but I'm getting very frustrated and depressed because of the leak. When it rains at night I just lie there waiting for it to start dripping between the inner and outer walls (can't put anything underneath it to catch it) and after each rain shower I check the wall for more brown spots. Tonight I saw a new band of rain coming in on the rain radar website and the prediction of more storms next week and it was just too much for me and kind of broke down (luckily my father is out tonight). My mother was very nice, came to see my brown wall and promised me that she is either going to pressure my father or organise for someone to come check the roof out next week herself and see if there is at least a temporary solution to stop the leaking. Right now I'm going to make a start cleaning up my closet, because of the rain I won't be sleeping until that has passed (and if it starts leaking again after that has stopped) and that won't be for at least another 3-4 hours. So at least I'm doing something useful instead of lying in bed waiting for the rain and the dripping. I'm hoping something can be done to stop the leaking, even if it's a temporary solution. I've become very stressed and starting to get depressed by the whole thing and especially with my father's reaction of ignoring it and making false promises. I'm most afraid of snow, because I'm worried that might cause even more leaking when it starts to melt. I'm actually looking forward to cleaning my closet because I can throw away about 90% of clothing because it's now too big. |
