I'm having some generic Chinese black tea that I bought at the same time as the Keemun for comparison.

Yes indeed. Though it feels very personal - all my family, including my 13 yo daughter, are devastated. And my 20 yo is about to head off on a European tour, and she hadn't yet bought any Euros, which are going to now be MUCH more expensive...

Anyway, before I get bumped over to the Politics forum...black coffee in my cup.

OK, I have a habit that my wife laughs at. When I buy a food or drink that's expensive, I usually buy a cheap equivalent to taste along with it and remind myself what I'm paying for. Amen. OTOH, maybe it means I can make a trip there, since it suddenly looks a little more affordable.

ROFLU. Yup, there is some vile stuff out there. There are good China Blacks, obviously, but it's always good to know your baseline. I like good Keemun, it's probably my favourite black tea. But cheap "keemun" ? Awful.

I'd really, really like a pot of good Keemun right now. It will be Sunday before I can get any.

I'm drinking a mug of chamomile and lavender herb tea. My daughter is reading a book series in which faeries eat flowers. Of course, now she wants to eat (or at least drink) flowers, so I tried to find something that doesn't taste too terrible.

I was also catching up on the free trade magazine Tea & Coffee that can be read online or downloaded. One of the recent issues has an interesting article about the various styles of Chinese tea. The articles are geared toward people in "the business" like importers, but are often informative.

I'm having a decaf coffee from an ALDI brand K-Cup.

I'm waiting until morning to try some Da Hong Pao oolong that I got today.
