I think I have a better idea of the problem.
Could you try to mark as read 5 books for example?
It should work.
Then do it for a huge number, I have done it for 3000.
It should not.
I think there is a leak when a lot of opened attributes are set as if a book is unread there is simply no attribute but I could be mistaken again.

'Not working' means what exactly?
Nothing happens after restarting the reader and PRS+ is still working?
Did you copy the folder 'PRSPInstaller' onto the reader?
Did you alter installer.sh inside this folder correctly? (comment out line 5 with '#')
Did you ev. restart the reader once again after trying to remove PRS+ (to be sure)?

This list isn't complete, though. There have been a lot of additions in 2.1.x!

Not working means that it still contains PRS+ even though I have wiped every trace of it I could find on the reader.

Without PRS+, the home page would contain these categories:

Periodicals, Collections, All Notes

With PRS+, it shows these:

Browse Folders, Book History, More

The main reason why I'd like to delete it entirely is because when I view a book in landscape mode, the corner of the page is highlighted (indicating the other half of the page).

And yes, I followed all of those steps carefully.

PRS+ is mainly on a hidden part you cannot see. That's why you cannot delete it in a normal way. Even when you formatt the reader.


You say you want to delete it cause of the 'highlighted corner' in landsape mode. I guess you mean the gray shaded areas which overlap in lc-mode.
You can switch off this behaviour in PRS+:

PRS+Settings --> Book Viewer --> Don't show overlap --> On

Besides: future versions of PRS+ will bring REAL landscape mode without overlapping areas and changing font size.

Simple and always the same way:

Copy the folder named 'PRSPInstaller' onto the reader, don't alter anything, restart the reader --> that's it.

This folder will be deleted automatically on a second restart or you can delete it after the first restart manually.

I've found a file on the reader called /system/lib/libreadercore.so. Inside that, there is the text res:///userStyle.css. I've tried putting a userStyle.css in / (the root directory), /data, /system and /mnt/sdcard and none of these appear to work.

I've pulled apart /system/app/EbookReader.apk and system/app/EbookReader.odex but these don't seem to reference CSS much - it looks like everything is handled in /system/lib/libreadercore.so. I'll dig around in there a bit more...

Perhaps the changed cache file causes the Sony firmware to rescan the entire list, and it's simply taking ages to do it.

I would agree with you but for 3 points:

• The original firmware is not bugging within the same time span
• It take max 10min, I let it for 30min and even in one case for the night (even if this test may not have been done in the same conditions)
• At random, reloading cause the reader to reboot by itself so I am fairly sure there is a problem

EDIT: Is there a way to generate a log file as I have seen the user.config method but it doesn't seem to work for me (or I have not done things right)?
