Thanks. I was trying to do that, but it turns out you can't be listing the books on the device when you try.

Just to be even more embarrassing, I had already set things up to auto convert, I was just not being patient enough.

Ok something has changed and I dont know what it is? Epubor cant remove drm any more, I tried with calibre and no luck but I could of done something wrong there. Im on windows 10 pc. Hope someone can let me know what the deal is?

Which method you used with calibre?

In calibre, I selected the device to list the books on the device and then scrolled to the book I wanted and then selected add books to library.

With DeDRM 10.0.9, everything worked as advertised.

The only one I know?? I simply installed the latest no drm 10.0.9 and it wont remove it, perhaps im doing something wrong? Im using windoows 10 and downloading it to my pc with kendal for pc.

The books I just converted were ones that would not work with kindle for the PC. In that case, you need to download from the kindle straight into calibre. Any books that could be downloaded with kindle for the PC, worked normally for that setup.

Until recently, I had just been doing things via kindle for the PC since it was the next easiest after download and transfer was disabled. This caused problems for most recently published books. Over the last month or so, that has been a bigger issue, so I was looking for other options.

Yea same here. Latest two books no luck converting. That is downloading using kendal for pc to windows 10.0 Calibre and plugin 10.0.9 simply cant remove drm. Again, unless im doing something wrong.

If the Kindle for PC is the latest version, that no longer works (except for Sats' method, which is more complicated than the old way).

A couple of things to consider, I've been using Linux for grabbing the books from the kindle. My windows VM is only used for grabbing things that kindle for PC can download.

It also seemed to make big difference in how you grabbed the book. Simply finding the kfx file from the kindle didn't do it, telling calibre to grab it from the kindle directly did.

My wife's kindle is a 10th generation running 5.18.1 firmware. Anything that does not match what I'm using could certainly be the problem.

Good point, my kindle for PC version is the older one that still works with DeDRM. Which of course is why there are so many things I can't download with it.

You and Tym are talking about different things. You're doing it via an eink Kindle, while Tym is trying to do it via Kindle for PC, presumably using the newest version, which no longer works.

K4PC won't work depending on the version and if the version is old enough and the eBook is new enough, it won't work. Basically the only sure way to remove the DRM is an older Kindle that will at least read KF8 and not run the latest firmware.

p.s. It's Kindle for PC, not Kendal for PC.

As Sirtel said, for the latest Kindle for PC, there is Sats' method, but it is more involved than noDRM's DeDRM.

A 10th generation or older E-ink Kindle is the easiest way at the moment to get recently published books. As JSWolf said, preferably one that at least does kf8/azw3. I've been using my Kindle Touch for the occasional book I still get from Amazon.
