Thanks. I also wonder if it isn't sort of an acquired taste, like sharp cheese. The other pu erh that I've tried (this one) fluctuates between "weird and funky" and "most delicious thing ever" during the same mouthful.

This morning it's a Chinese jade ti kuan yin from the same importer as the pu erh. It smells wonderful and tastes nice, but the flavor's kind of fleeting. So far, the green oolongs from Taiwan seem to be higher quality in general than the ones from mainland China, at least with off-the-shelf brands.

Pu erh is an acquired taste but I know that my Dad hated Pu erh after his first batch and loves the stuff I make. His first encounter made him nauseous.

Yes, I've only tried two Pu erhs, one of them I liked a bit, the other I actively disliked.

These are ones I think I want to taste in the store before committing to them. If you live where that is possible, of course.

oh, bad. very bad. And oooh so tempting! I don't even HAVE one and it tempts me.

Drinking canned Dasani sparkling water flavoured with what appears to be synthetic lime, though that may just my projecting. This stuff is better than drinking Diet Coke, but only barely.
