Sigh. Decent tea is no longer an option. But I intend to investigate the bar at this Fairmont hotel and see if they have anything interesting in the way of single malts. I know they usually have Talisker. But can one possible hope for some Bruichladdich?
Meanwhile, headed to dinner. |

Seven Sons Puerh.
The Little Man called me with panic in his voice this morning. I sprint out to the kitchen to see what is wrong. He is panicked because the basket in my tea maker had lowered into the water to make the tea. "The basket dropped Mommy. The basket dropped!" I held him in my arms, which is starting to become difficult because he is 45 pounds now, and explained how water becomes tea and assured him that the basket is suppose to go into the water. I love my Little Man. |

And I love your Little Man stories! Thank you.
Sadly, it's so-so hotel coffee this morning for me. If the choice is bad coffee or bad tea, I'm more inclined to go with bad coffee and put a lot of sugar and milk in it. Something I don't do with tea. |

I don't understand why you don't bring an infuser and make your own tea. Heck, buy a small French press and make your own coffee.
Darjeeling this afternoon. I made Earl Grey for the first time in ages yesterday. Teavana suggested 195 for 3 minutes and it was great. That is another one I had always made at 205 for 5 minutes. I am revisiting teas that I have had some problems with in the past and paying more attention to how they are made because I am finding that the directions provided in the past seem to have been wrong. |

Last tea for the day.
Yep. When I'm on the road I just order coffee, with milk and sugar. It just serves as a caffeine delivery system, nothing else. |

I'm glad to hear you're re-trying some things. I've personally found that old instructions to brew with boiling water for 5 minutes are almost never right! I've settled into a comfortable 195 for 3 minutes as my default. Only English Breakfast and Irish Breakfast get bumped up to 205. But still never longer than 3 minutes. Of course, greens and some Oolongs require less than 195, and most of them don't need 3 minutes, either. In another hotel. Nothing around. And only the TransCanada between me and anything else. So I'll hug my room and read. |

Camels Breath Puerh.
We had Mothers Day Breakfast at the Preschool. Little Man always likes it when we are there for the special things. He used to wake up around 7:30 but the last three weeks has started getting up around 6:15-6:30. That is about when I get up. My husband hates it because it costs him an hour of sleep. LM and I love it because we get to spend time together in the morning. I get to go to work after a hug and a kiss from both the men in my life. |

A double Oban, with water back. (Best I could manage tonight, with no Islays or Talisker on offer. I'll be glad to go home tomorrow...
