I am currently looking at an online exhibition. I may have to chase up some ebooks about this subject for the plane.

Some of you might remember that I've posted about having problems encouraging my geriatric cats to eat. (They are siblings, almost 18 years old.) Gus will eat some canned foods, but up to this point Lori just flat refused to taste any moist cat food. She would pick at dry food, and would eat a little fresh baked chicken, but that's it. A couple of weeks ago she got really down and I was afraid I was going to lose her. She didn't want to eat much or drink much, and was sleeping a lot more than usual. I let out all the stops trying to find something to stimulate her appetite, and finally I found this -- she actually loves it! It's just mushy ground food, and I started out adding some hot water to it and mushing it even further into a sort of gruel (because I was afraid she was getting dehydrated.) She likes it so well that way that I'm serving it to her that way all the time, and to Gus as well. She's nice and perky now, putting a little weight back on, and actually interested in eating -- such a change!
![]() I've been trying to get her onto moist food for a while now, but this is the first one that she will even touch. She's VERY picky -- no Fancy Feast or any of the casserole type pouch foods, not even canned tuna. I don't know why this one appeals to her, but I'm so relieved to have found something she'll eat. (Wow, this petite kitty looks like Godzilla when she's right up in my face like this! ![]() Last edited by bjones6416; 09-16-2011 at 10:29 PM. Reason: added pic |

It's always good hearing about relief from worry about a pet, especially older pets. I'm glad that you found something they love to eat. It must be a a big worry taken off your mind! Actually, this is the same stuff we feed to Felicity, just a different flavor. She loves the crab flavored mush and won't touch any of the others, though she does eat Kal-kan crab as well as Kal-kan tuna. But no chicken or beef for her! And for now she also eats Royal Canine Feline dry food, but she's still 10 years younger than your cats. We keep our fingers crossed for the future. Stitchawl |

It's always a challenge to keep older cats interested in eating. When a cat refuses everything, I usually turn to baby food - the pureed lamb, veal, or chicken - it can "spoil" a cat into wanting only baby food from then on, but sometimes it's the only way to keep them eating!
Also, there's a pour on gravy (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...%3Daps&x=0&y=0) that can get a finicky cat interested in eating again. |

Betty - also try canned kitten food - my late cat Spot ended her days eating Fancy Feast kitten food - turkey flavor.

I just ordered tickets for Dutch stand-up comedian Bert Visscher for January 10. I'm going with my sister. I'm already looking forward to it, Bert's shows are always a cross between stand-up comedy and a play; it's set in one location where the weirdest things happen to the various characters he plays. His previous show (which we also saw live) was set in the mines and the new show is set in an ice skating ring. Another thing to look forward to!

(It all seems to be texture related for her, although I would have thought it would be more to do with smell. The trick is finding the texture she's willing to stick her finicky little nose into!) |

I avoid giving our cat food any with gravy. Christian invariably licks off the gravy and leaves the food.

Just watched this jaw-dropping time lapse of the Earth as seen from the ISS. Definitely worth a watch at highest resolution and in full screen.
Amazing! |

Watching "Monsters vs Aliens" again. I seem to find more movie references each time.

We got a new digital receiver last week. The new one's got a HD and two tuner so you can both watch and record something. My father installed it last night and today I figured out how to get it to work on our network.
One of the great features is that if you've recorded something you can download it, with an FTP program, to any computer on the network and watch it. It took me a while to figure out why it wasn't working on my computer but it turned out Windows Firewall was blocking it. (although I still find it strange that I was able to connect with my website just fine and not the receiver). |
