I can't promise I can properly support older calibre versions. I was in the middle of rewriting the plugin, but with native KePub support I want to compare my new code to Kovid's KePub code. Still no promises on when that happens, lots going on in real life, but I can make an effort to target calibre 5.44. That's the latest version that will work with macOS 10.14 "Mojave", which at this point is almost 7 years old.

Once that new version is released though, it's most likely still going to be critical maintenance only. We'll see what bugs get reported.

I have removed all metadata plugboards, checked for software updates, updated metadata on the device again after sending the books, but alas :-(

The book file is on the device but still does not show up.
The driveinfo.calibre and metadata.calibre files and folder .kobo have a date modified today.

One thing I've noticed on the iPhone. iPhones that get iOS 18 but are unable to run Apple Intelligence just won't do so. So Apple is plenty capable to making new features work where they'd work and not where they won't.

There are ways of installing an unsupported version of MacOS. One thing that's recommended is to do so first on a USB stick so you can see if it runs well enough. That is my suggestion is to see is a newer MacOS may run well enough and upgrade to that.

Have you tried moving the book file to a different location on your Kobo (since you mentioned the .kobo directory, please tell us that you don't store books in it). For this one book for testing, you could even use the root of the exposed partition.

Remember if the book is not imported into the Kobo database, calibre will not see it as being on the device other than immediately after sending it.

Kobo Extented won't install on Calibre 8

Hello,
I have recently migrated to Linux, thus reinstalling all my beloved apps.
At the very same moment, Calibre decide to upgrade to 8.
Now, koboExtended won't install on Calibre 8

Is it something that you were aware ?

I downgraded to Calibre 7.46 (latest version 7) and KoboExtended work fine.
I upgraded again to v8 : nope KoboX won't stick. No error message...

Many thanks

ps.: thanks for the plugin, btw... the only one that helped me to NOT send kepub to my kobo

calibre 8 update to the Kobo Touch driver now includes the convert to kepub in the fly conversion that the Kobo Touch Extended driver offered. The KTE driver along with the Kepub Input/OutPut and Metadata Reader/Writer plugins are now blacklisted and will not run in calibre 8.

To use calibre 8 without sending kepubs to a Kobo ereader, on the second tab of the configuration dialog, remove the checkmark from Use Kobo viewer for EPUB books.

Alternatively, if you are like me and send books that are large graphics heavy and you want to be able to zoom them, I use a template to choose whether to send epub or kepub.epub to my Kobos.

This is actually a bug in the KoboUtilities plugin with old versions of Calibre. Can you please test this version to see if that fixes it for you?

Sorry, but are you sure you installed the test build of the plugin correctly? The exception shouldn't be possible to happen any more, and the line numbers are also still the same which they shouldn't be.

Hm, I kind of just went to Calibre -> open Preferences -> then Plugins -> then Load Plugin from File

After I have loaded and installed it, I went and restarted Calibre before plugging my kobo again. Should I uninstall something first?

Alright, so I went and uninstalled all the Kobo plugins, then reinstall the Kobo Utilities, and then download Kobo Touch Extended again and it works now, thank you for the help!

After upgrading Calibre, I can only use the built in plugin, and even after enabling hyphenation, my KEPUBs don't have any hyphenation anymore? What gives?

Edit: Uninstalling and reinstalling Calibre 7.26.0 and reverting to Extended and re-sending those books fixed the problem

There was a bug that has been fixed in source that dealt with hyphenation being broken in the current build. It will be in the next release.
