Currently reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.
This is the second time reading this one and thoroughly enjoying the experience.
Convinced a few people I met through my YouTube channel to read along as well this month so it will be interesting to hear some different thoughts and opinions on it as well.
The Store is a very good book, in my opinion.

My favorite, however, is The Mailman. (Think The Cable Guy without the overt humor. Since I'm somewhat demented in what I find humorous, I find the book hilarious in its implications.)

ADDED: I read Ayn Rand's book years ago and enjoyed it. Although, at 'only' about 1/3 in length compared to Atlas Shrugged, it failed to keep the door open when I created an intentional draft to cool off the house during a hot day.

(I have yet to read Atlas Shrugged, but I do intend to do so.)

I spent six days trying to read this. I abandoned at 75%. It was dull, and I didn't care about the crime, the criminals, or our protagonist. No more!

Then I read Starter Villain by John Scalzi in one go. Brilliant. Just a delightful read.

And now I'm giving Scarlet by Genevieve Cogman a go. A recent freebie, I've enjoyed her Invisible Library series, so I'll ses how her French Revolution with Vampires series starts.

Both of these are on my short list to read as I finish Overcaptain by L.E Modesitt, Jr.

Don't laugh, but started reading my Alfred Hitchcock and The Three Investigators books.
They are quick and simple reads.

A delightful quick read. The other two are now on my wishlist.

Next up: Dead Souls by Ian Rankin. The tenth in his Inspector Rebus series. A random pick from my TBR pile.

I am laughing, but at myself rather than at you. I converted the ones written by Robert Arthur to epubs for myself about ten or more years ago. That's where I learned that proofreading kills my desire to re-read that book for a long time. Hopefully I can join you in re-reading them myself at some point before I die

Her work is very engaging and thoughtful. The pace is leisurely and thought-provoking, and her characters seem real: they reflect and think.

I highly recommend the book I'm reading. From what I've read about the other 8 titles in the overall series, she is not to be missed!

So let's talk about BOOKS!!!!!

I’ve been working on reading fewer books at one time with some success….

….and then I started four books in the last three days. Here they are:
  • Our Man in Charleston: Britain's Secret Agent in the Civil War South by Christopher Dickey
  • Six Tragedies by Seneca, translated by Emily Wilson
  • Pleasure and Privilege: Life in France, Naples, and America, 1770-1790 by Olivier Bernier
  • Where the Wild Winds Are: Walking Europe's Winds from the Pennines to Provence by Nick Hunt

I’ll have to dig in before my Thanksgiving company shows up this weekend or they’ll languish; fortunately they’re all engaging although not stellar the way my last three books were (it’s a little early to call the Seneca). The Bernier suffers from being dated.

Just finishing up:

The Inklings and King Arthur: J. R. R. Tolkien, Charles Williams, C. S. Lewis, and Owen Barfield on the Matter of Britain edited by Sørina Higgins

which was an interesting deep dive and follow-up to Tolkien's The Fall of Arthur.

Which was a solid Inspector Rebus mystery. A nice feeling of being back in Edinburgh, with places I knew as a student.

Next i read a book club book: The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis. I thought I'd read them before, but I don't think I had.

Very well written. As fiction they're 5/5. Of course, for Lewis they were not fiction.

And now the last volume in Catharine Asaro's The Lost Continent collection, The Fire Opal. The collection was my most expensive every ebook. £13.99. It probably wasn't worth it, although the books are reasonable romantic fantasy books.

The Nightwalker, by Thomas Tessier.

The horror is ramping up.

And enjoyable.

It was a good romantic fantasy.

Next I read: Catwings and Catwings Returns by Ursula K. Le Guin. From the Humble Bundle I just bought, two illustrated children's books. They're OK.

And now a random pick: Lightspeed Magazine #8. Bought from Fictionwise back in 2011!
