I just finished reading Howard Dean's new book, Howard Dean's Prescription for Real Healthcare Reform. It's a well-written and thoughtful book, but the title of chapter fifteen threw me. It's named "Meet Your Neighbors: You May Be One of Them."
Hmmm... you may be one of your neighbors? Well, yeah, if you suffer from multiple personality disorder or have suddenly found yourself living in a parallel dimension! Okay, I know... sorry attempt at humor! ![]() (I won't say anything further about the book in this thread because I don't want to risk turning it into another debate on the subject.) |

Dare I say that my latest re-read of *A Tale of Two Cities* was an absolute drag after its opening sentence? Beautifully presented by Harry, though. Many thanks. N

Man Eaters
I have just finished reading "Man Eaters of Kumaon" by Jim Corbett and "The man-eaters of Tsavo and other East African adventures" by J. H. Patterson.
Great books really - very recommended. cklammer P.S.: Before somebody asks: both books have been produced by Hollywood studios as movies. |

Just read my first book on Kindle! A Shattered Life by Karen McQuestion. This story is consistently on the top sellers list and has been optioned for film. Karen portrays family and relationships in such a way that I could identify with all her characters' situations and problems. Beautifully written!

Pffeww, finally finished the entire Harry Potter series (again). I got the urge to start reading it when we had seen the latest HP movie. I didn't sleep too long last night, as I just couldn't put my book away...
I think I'll read some non-series novels first. I bought some books by Mercedes Lackey I might start with... |

![]() I'm reading "Death on the Nile" by Agatha Christie, and I'm also excited to see "The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding" by her on sale for the Christmas special (under $4). Then I'll be on to "Bitten and Smitten" by Michelle Rowen, which I got as a freebie and a friend of mine on Goodreads added it to her list, so I said we should read it together. Then it's on to "Murder Must Advertise" by Dorothy Sayers, which I'm reading for the book club here and I'm also getting my mom to join in on the fun. |

As for me, I'm cursing Maggie Sefton. I got caught up in Dyer Consequences, and couldn't put it down. Then I thought - hey, the next book is Fleece Navidad, and it's Christmas - here we go again. I'm lucky to have emerged long enough to make this post. |

Ok, I didn't start a Lackey book, but a Lacey book...
Great Tales From English History: The Truth About King Arthur, Lady Godiva, Richard the Lionheart, and More by Robert Lacey, it's a part of three. I recently got part 2 (one and three have been in my bookshelf for a year or so), so I decided to read it. Thhe stories are generally short and give a nice overview of English History. The writer is telling a story, (as if he's actually talking to you, the reader) and so far, fun to read. |
