I only got a tablet to read ebooks with lots of photos/maps, etc that didn't render well on e-ink screens. And I can honestly say that's all I really use it for.

One of the things I thought I would do with my iPad was read PDF books or comics. In fact I do many things with it, including this post, but I don't read books. I still can't read books on a backlit screen, which is funny because I read newspapers, but not books.

I thought it would be a problem for me (I wear glasses and my eyes are tired easily reading on a PC screen) but I have had little difficulty with the Kindle App.

I feel the same way, sans the laptop as I find them uncomfortable. I do respect their functionality and convenience however.

Did you buy it before the nook color came out, or did you want the add'l tablet capabilities just in case? A tablet seems to be big & heavy for reading; do you find it comfortable to use?

I'm interested in a tablet but I can't justify buying one. I probably wouldn't use it as an ereader, the battery of my Kindle lasts longer and I prefer eInk over backlit. It's nice to have access to the internet everywhere you are but I have my phone for that, plus it's nice not to have the distraction when reading.

I might get one in the future, when prices of both the tablets and the 3G subscriptions have gone down.

I am a confirmed Kindle user/buyer - so I never really considered adding a nook color. Format shifting is now relatively easy, but still a pain.

I was mildly interested in the world of apps, etc. - but find I'd rather spend my time reading, not playing games, etc.
The only other app I use at all is Weather Bug.

The tablet is considerably heavier than a Kindle, but I had been primarily using a Kindle DX, so the size increase didn't bother me all that much.

Using apps, and the fact that I really didn't like my previous phone, were what finally convinced me to upgrade to an iPhone. I can't imagine not having it now, but I really don't like reading on it.

I tried out a family member's original Nook, and it actually made me more convinced than ever that my Kindle is the right e-reader for me. The family member said that the Kindle had too many buttons for her (). I'd still like to play around with the Nook Color just to see what its like, and to see the difference between it & the original. Store demos, however, don't really do e-readers justice.

Hmmm.... this leads to a philosophical dilemma (you can tell I have nothing better to be doing right now...)

If 'fasting' is 'not doing something,' can fasting be considered 'doing something?' I may actually be able to spend all afternoon pondering this...

And the corollary... if one ponders 'not doing something,' does that reverse the situation making it actually doing something?

Perhaps I should lay down and not do something that way. Then I can tell my wife that I spent the afternoon actively not doing anything! She'll assume that the reason she doesn't understand is because of language difficulties and I get away with sleeping this afternoon with no recrimination for not doing anything!

I love it when a plan comes together (Thank you, Hannibal. )

I am feeling a bit relieved that Mr M appears to be OK.

The vet has given him an anti-imflammatory. Fingers crossed he get better soon, or he will have to go back for x-rays.

My guess is that he will feel so good in the morning he will be desperate to get out and get about his cat business. (he has to stay in a bit longer)

My fingers are crossed, too! So the vet didn't see anything obvious to explain the soreness? No bites or anything?

We think he may have had a fall. Everything seems OK except that he is tender in his lower spine and his legs are a bit weak. He eats and drinks and poos and wees normally.

I just got back from my physiotherapist for my breathing. His diagnosis is that it's hyperventilation which is connected with my worrying. According to him the dialogue with myself needs improving.

Luckily he's very practical and instead of telling me not to worry so much, like everybody up to now has been telling me (but they never can tell how not to worry) he gave me an exercise how calm down when feeling stressed. I got another appointment for next week.

He sounds like my kind of doctor. If the anti-worrying exercises work, please share.
