I could never understand the appeal of diamonds. I used to spend hours in front of the huge gemstone displays in N.Y. City's Museum of Natural History, drooling over the sapphires, rubies, emeralds, etc., but the diamonds were just bleh...

They had several of the vary famous stones on display from time to time, but even those big Elizabeth Taylor sized diamonds didn't move me. Give me aluminum oxide over carbon any day!

I used to buy sapphires, jade, and rubies along the Burmese border. Every three months I had to go up there for visa renewals, and would bring back a stone or two. Over the years I built up a nice collection. Nothing big or expensive, but fun stuff to keep in a little leather pouch in my drawer.

Pretty... for diamonds. I saw the Hope Diamond when it was on display, but I still prefer rubies, sapphires, and emeralds.

Of course, if someone wanted to give me some diamonds, I'd probably accept.

Yeah, I think sapphires and rubies are much more appealing.

And double yeah on your open-mindedness, Stitchawl. Of course any gem would do.

Just like babies in some cultures, the computer has to live for a week before it gets a name... I think this one is still in the Intensive Care Unit.

The computer store gave. It my last name. When reinstalling Windows I named it Ford Prefect. But it isn't working properly (see Vent and Rant thread) and I'm going to bring it back to the store tomorrow.

Well - if it is defective - change the name to Arthur Dent! Then everyone can join in making fun of it!

It seems to be the mega-moth time of year, my sister caught one in her room (in a washbag for bras) two nights ago and now there's one in my bedroom. I think it's underneath my bed at the moment, it'll probably come out when I turn out all the lights to go to sleep. I got a glass and a piece of cardboard ready to catch it and release it out of the window.

Lexie also likes bugs, but when she munches on a mega-moth it sound horrible. Anyway, mega-moth is caught and released but a huge spider ran past me over the wall and I can't find it to catch it too. I don't think I'll get much sleep tonight.
