After a quick swim this morning, a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice with my breakfast. Now, fixing a large pot of Peet's English Breakfast Blend tea. I'm running low on this tea, and I doubt I'll be able to get any more, since they've abandoned it in favour of the Mighty Leaf "Organic Breakfast" tea. Which I found insipid and uninteresting in the extreme. So I'm going to need to find a new English Breakfast blend tea, I fear.

Nice! I'd never heard of Octomore so I looked it up - looks intriguing; "the world's most heavily peated whisky".

Yeah, I've just GOT to try it. I really, really like their Port Charlotte Heavily Peated whisky, so I expect to like this. The difference I've seen in their whisky is a tendency to have a heavy peat without that almost oily quality that some others have. Heck, their Port Charlotte even has a bit of floral quality. Quite unlike my Talisker, which is positively briny.

Of course, it's an expensive whisky, and I'd never have thought of buying it, but a consulting gig has been producing quite a few more hours than expected, so I get a bit of a treat.

Octomore is wonderful - I bought a bottle last year that I've been nursing along with sips... it's the heaviest but smoothest peat taste I've ever tried - intense but not oily - very smooth on the tongue ... I describe it as a 'thick' peat on the tongue -- intense. Enjoy!
Plus the bottle is way cool - solid black.

Ahhh! Cask strength, so the undiluted whisky opens up in the mouth slowly as your saliva dilutes it down. And the heat tapers off to a warm thick peatiness. No oiliness, just peat and smoke and wait, there at the end, some characteristic Bruichladdich floweriness. Now, a touch of water, and the nose in the glass opens up wonderfully. Lovely.

Hah! Found a Rexal within easy walking distance, and now have a large bottle of Club Soda in the refrigerator.

I really hate having to be in the office, but sometimes it's necessary.
