I've bought Donald Allen Kirch's Still Waters but had already decided that the next book is going to be a Dresden book.

I'm also trying to teach myself knitting at the moment. I must say that both the book I bought and the knitting for beginners websites use too much terminology without explaining what it means, which can be a bit frustrating.

In the late '50's the folk group "The Tarriers" formed in New York City. It was their theme song. One of their members, Erik Darling (who later joined The Rooftop Singers to play "Walk Right In") was giving banjo lessons and was my banjo teacher for about a year or so! That was one of the songs we used to play, and was a VERY popular song in Greenwich Village at the time. We (100's of folk musicians ) would all gather on Sundays around the fountain in Washington Sq. Park and play all day. Imagine 20-30 people all playing and singing that song at the same time! We had to stop playing at 5pm (the police would come and tell us to move along) so we'd stroll up McDougal Street between W4th Street ("Positively 4th Street) and Bleeker Street, stopping in the various coffee houses to play and perhaps pass the plate.

Nice memories!

I was thinking the very same thing. I've been playing guitar since I was 11, mostly folk music and blues (Delta blues, Country blues, and plain 12-bar prison blues,) latter adding in jazz and New Age (think Wil Ackerman, Alex deGrassi) These days I've been tuning my guitar to sitar scales and playing improvisational ragas. My wife is ready to move out.

Currently surfing the net and posting here on my new Acer laptop! I would have gone for apple because it would probably work better with my iPad but the problem with apple is that I'm a gamer, and my favourite games don't seem to work on apple laptops.

Plus, Acers are cheaper.

Haha, the first thing I did with my new laptop was to update the iPad iOS, which I couldn't do with my previous laptop because it was out of space, being Vista and all.

Boy, I can't wait for iOS 5. No more having to sync with a laptop!

I can't update my iPad right now, since I dont have enough hard drive space to back it up. (I really need a new hard drive)

Though I'm not sure I would bother with this update anyway. All it seems to do is patch a hole in the PDF viewer. One that was being used to jailbreak wirelessly.

Yes and no. First the iPad doesn't have any USB host built in. For that you need the camera connection kit. This is actually two accessories in one: An SD card reader and a USB host. Now without jailbreaking these two accessories are limited to previewing and importing photos and certain video files into the internal memory. Oh, and it unofficially supports USB Keyboards, though with very little power supplied through the adapter you either need a powered hub in-between or a very energy efficient keyboard. If you do jailbreak, and install a file manager, then these are quite a bit more versatile.

Beyond that some apps let you transfer or stream data over WiFi, or use online storage solutions like dropbox.
