Well, it's an LED display for one thing... and with the right color scheme, it'll be easy on the eyes! Blue text on a black background for reading at night; black text on light parchment colored paper for during the day. The screen is gorgeously crisp--and there will no page flashing as with e-ink displays. It looks like a winner in the ebook department! I hope they put videos showing the iBooks app in operation or provide a detailed list of its features--soon! |

Hulu is flash based. As far as I know, no plans to get it to work on the current iPhone platform. On the iPod Touch, a lot of the user interfaces on various apps involve scrolling. For email, I have to scroll down to see older messages and to continue to read messages. Tapping on the Kindle app works fine. You're totally right on that. The iPad real estate should help lots here. I'm just saying that for me, I probably wouldn't use a netbook or iPad to replace my kindle. Other than book price (moot with Kindle app for US customers) I find the battery life the next most desirable feature, followed by how easy it is to hold. Maybe what I'm waiting for for stock apps is a slightly more industrial browser or a larger keyboard. It's true that there's plenty of apps and mobile sites already available. I crash safari on the touch at least once a month, though... not what I'd want to deal with in relation to money transactions. That is independent of the iPad, more dependent on the OS. SD card wise, it's great that there's a adapter. Hopefully multi-tasking will be available so people can do something else while waiting for photos to copy over. Also an OS issue. I guess I need VPN and remote desktop apps Then I could access desktops and it'd really be a useful device for me.

why will the keyboard be hunt and peck? it is a standard QWERTY layout, and with possible hacks, Dvorak,Colemak or what have you. it isn't a small phone sized layout, you can use more than 2 thumbs.

No flash, no sd slot, massive ridiculous looking bezel, and worst of all, the most inexcusable and which will push me in the direction of a netbook for sure...no multitasking.

I certainly won't give up my PRS-505 for it, but an eink device and and iPad will be a nice combination.

This ipad seems exactly what I've been hoping for, provided you can put your own files (epub, html, pdf and cbr...) on it. And I don't have too much money, I will have to save to get it, if I get one, but it has a real place on its own, between the laptop and the ebook e-ink reader, in my world

Are we sure about the "no multitasking" part?
