Import book and info from reader

Hi,

First, I would like to say that Calibre is my favorite software ever. EVER! It´s incredibly useful and well made. Congratulations.

I use it in 2 computers: one at work, for my technical library, and the other at home, for everything else. I never had to mix the libraries, but now I got an netbook, and wish to make a mix of the books from both the others.

I already have most the mix done in my Sony 505, but I found no way to get the books from the 505 to the netbook WITH the tags and complete info.

I searched here and Calibre´s website, and found nothing about "importing" the books and info from the reader. Is it possible?

Thanks in advance.

converting to a new reader

I am switching from the Sony 700 to the Irex 800sg.

I need different font scaling on the Irex. I am probably going to move the books from my Calibre library to the Irex SD card because I'm using folders and not the Sony style. So, I'm assuming I need to reconvert all the books in order to get the scaling changed. Is this true?

Thanks,

Lynn

yes if you want different scaling, you have to re-convert

Hi, I am PRS 700 user and I often make use of one of its particular features - making notes.
However, when I need to work with the notes I have to turn back to the Sony library, because so far it's the only program, which is able to work with this features.
Is there any chance that note /-syncing/-editing/-exporting/ will be implemented in calibre anytime soon.
Of course, I mean primarily LRF format.
Secondly, I think I might be doing something wrong, but I've just discovered, that there is no option for transferring a book from the reading device directly to the calibre library. Or did miss something?

Hello,

I've used Calibre for a few weeks now and have converted several .pdf files to MOBI format so they'd work on my Kindle and have even been able to make them look good on the Kindle. My only problem is that I can't seem to remove the headers and footers. I found the option to do that but I'm obviously not technical enough to figure out what the "header (footer) regular expression" line is supposed to say to make it work. And worse, in the process of trying to figure that out, I've managed to erase the default line that was there. How can I figure out what to put in that line to get it to remove the headers and footers? Is it different for every book? And failing all that, can you at least tell me what it said in that line before I messed it up?

Thank you.

Yes, it's probably going to need to be tweaked on a per-book basis.

The originals:

Header:
Code:
(?i)(?<=<hr>)((\s*<a name=\d+></a>((<img.+?>)*<br>\s*)?\d+<br>\s*.*?\s*)|(\s*<a name=\d+></a>((<img.+?>)*<br>\s*)?.*?<br>\s*\d+))(?=<br>)
Footer:
Code:
(?i)(?<=<hr>)((\s*<a name=\d+></a>((<img.+?>)*<br>\s*)?\d+<br>\s*.*?\s*)|(\s*<a name=\d+></a>((<img.+?>)*<br>\s*)?.*?<br>\s*\d+))(?=<br>)
If you want to learn regular expressions... may $deity have mercy on your soul.

Device: Ectaco jetBook or Aluratek Libre
I'm a new member, have a new Libre (3 days). I installed the Calibre program, and the options to choose from for ebook reader device didn't include Libre. But of course I understand that the world's entire collection of ebook reading devices is too numerous to list all of them, and I guess the Aluratek Libre is relatively new.

So I chose Ectaco. Will this be my best choice for now?

Thanks so much for the original code for removing headers and footers. If I can ever figure out what to do with it, I'll be in great shape. Yeah...I've tried the "learn regular expressions" route. Ha! I was almost able to make it work. I could take out the title of the book OR the date in the header but not both and I could get rid of the author's name in the footer but never the page numbers.

I came up with a plan that involves converting to rtf, opening in Word, searching and replacing a couple times, saving, opening in Calibre, converting to MOBI and then emailing the resultant file to my Kindle. Labor intensive but doing it on one book at a time as I go to read it, isn't that big a deal. It's better than having to skip over all the extra stuff in the text anyway.

Thanks again!

Calibre does not work via iTunes and USB. Apple does not allow third party applciations to connect via USB.

For over the network settings for some reason I found I had more joy using port 8787 on my Windows box. Note that you have to have your firewall configured to allow Calibre to act as a server on whatever port you select for use. You might prefer to start with the firewall turned off to prove everything is working and then you can enable it afterwards once it is correctly configured.

Also note that the URL to use depends on whether you are configuring Stanza to use a web page or an user defined catalog. The online catalog feature would use the address:
http://(IP number):8080/stanza
This is the best way to access the Calibre catalog from Stanza.

Hi,
I'm transitioning from Windows to Linux and I'd like to import my customized recipes* but I can't find a way to do that, it doesn't seem like they're stored as a .recipe file. Please help me.
* this includes the feeds that I download with the basic recipe and the built-in recipes that I've tweaked.
Thanks!!!
