I need more karma to get those powers. I've been working hard on building up a karma-siphoning network, but some dang superhero has gone and shoved a minivan up the nozzle.

My take on this whole karma thing? karmageddon: (n.) It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like a serious bummer.

Why? Why does the fact that people have so much Karma bother you? It certainly doesn't 'hurt' you in any way. It certainly doesn't give them any special benefits. Don't worry... the sky is NOT falling.

I don't like Karaoke but I wouldn't presume to ask the government to stop it. Other people DO enjoy it. It doesn't hurt me to let them. And to deal with 'my' problem, I don't visit the Karaoke boxes. Problem solved.

I've never understood why people were so uptight over the karma system. I've been a member for 2.5 years and up until recently had less than 2k karma. Since I normally posted in the kindle / deals forum there really wasn't a lot of karma being thrown around.

Just because someone has 100 or 10,000,000 karma a well thought out post is just as relevant. If someone tells me a book I've been thinking of reading is formatted horribly or that a new firmware update breaks a feature, I'm not looking at the karma count I just want the information.

To me the best feature of karma is being able to add a comment when someone hits the post, it can range anywhere from a simple thank you to you made me fall out of my chair laughing.

How about this, the people who don't want Karma or think it is a sham can put a note in their sig line and we won't give them Karma.

Stitchawl.... I was being SARKY... I don't care either way about Karma... I had a hangover from a night of Karaoke and just did a one liner. I give Karma from time to time ....You never know when it may come back to you...Futskaiyoyi.... It hurts more than Karma..

People have offered me money NOT to sing... Fortunately I'm deaf and can't hear myself very well, but I won't impose myself on strangers. The shower stall works well enough for the likes of me.

I agree with the comment function

. I mostly use the Karma function just to do that. - To give comments to a post.

As this thread has shown the Karma function is a sensitive topic where almost everyone has an opinion.

In some ways I do believe the Karma system is flawed:
What's the use for one single user to be able to give a default Karma score of a very high number (me included, I can give 10.000 each time

)?

Setting the value to a maximum upper limit when giving Karma would probably take away some of the criticism being raised here.

On a final note, I truly believe that Karma was intended to be something positive and I will continue to think of it that way.
