Kindle 3.1 Jailbreak - Page 21

i have a question please....i have the k3 but NOT with special offers, however it's 3.2.1....so i'm going to attempt the jailbreak.
once it is installed (ive already downloaded the zip file), what screensaver hack do i use?

I Have purchased a Kindle with Wifi, however am based in the UK, The problem is we dont have the adverts just version 3.2.1 and unable to jailbreak. Why have Amazon rolled out 3.2.1 across all units sold when its only US versions with the Add's?

Because it's easier to have just one image to burn on all the kindles. They decide if there's 3G and/or ads later in the manufacturing process. Saves them time and money. Doesn't matter though, because we can jailbreak 3.2.1.

Hi! I have kindle b008 3.1.
After unsuccessful installing of jailbreak I had some troubles: can't create any note or bookmark ("your memory is full") (more then 2 g is free) and last position in book is not saved if I change the book. On device i can't open dirs: audible and system\sidecar.
Uninstall of jailbreak is not working (u007). And I also tried Reset to Factory Defaults...
Help me please!!!

Looks like a new update for K3 (and KSO) coming up -- an excerpt from an Amazon announcement.

"The functionality for receiving AmazonLocal deals on Kindle with Special Offers will be delivered as part of a software update for latest generation Kindles in the coming weeks. "

Could affect jail breaks.

Hi everyone! I must say that your work is amazing, thanks a lot for the fantastic job! I replaced the screensavers on my B008-3.1

Sad to see that Amazon still won't let us do that without jailbreaking on the new models (which by the way are awesome - never ever use my keyboard, would be happy to go with 4 non touch, non keyboard)

I have faith in you geniuses for the jailbreaking of the 4, I see there is a thread already open!

No clue, what I actually know is, that people having had a jailbroken device and made the update kept the jailbreak without doing anything else. Others successfully did the jailbreak with NiLuJe's version after doing the update after a factory reset.
Actually I run a test myself ...

UPDATE:

Both jailbreaks WORK on 3.3, NiLuJe's and Yifanlu's, 0.9 respective 0.51

hey Guyz,
i just paste jailbreak.bin in da root , for 3 times i've given 3 error and i pressed R;nothin' changed
dis time i do that again and it loads as before & No UPDATE button in SETTING,
what should i do? D version iz 3.2.1

Hi Mindle,

what version of the jailbreak are you using? NiLuJe's or Yifan Lu's? If NiLuJe, are you using the -3.2.1 version of the bin file? If Yifan Lu, are you using 0.51 version? (0.4 does not work with 3.2.1).

Try this app that will do the install automatically on your Kindle, you just follow the instructions on screen?

Is there an easy way to tell which version of the jailbreak I have installed? I'm trying to install the 3.3 Kindle update, and I'd like to uninstall the jailbreak and reinstall a newer version after I update, but the 0.5.1 uninstaller fails. As does the 0.5.1 installer, the 3.3 update...you name it.

It's been so long since I messed with any updates, I have no idea which version I used to jailbreak 3.1 in the first place.

Edit: Third time's a charm, maybe? I think the 0.5.1 installer worked this time. Will uninstall and try to run the 3.3 update, then try the jailbreak again.
