Screen Saver:

There seem to be a couple of bugs with screensaver. They've been reported as far as I know. One is that it may not refresh the page, waking up.( K-3) On DX, it has failed to come back up completly. A reset and boot up with Amazon, then a new attempt - got it running again. It seem related to latest versions.

I use screensaver by ? It is not Renoir, not Degas - but some NiLuJe ?!

It is really a piece of art, and it really comes out on a DX. It must have taken a considerable time of work - so ... I just had to mention it ! Thank you

I would like to know what/where/when goes wrong with charactersets and reading. You may do some experiments yourself and see if a conversion may help.

A bit about fonts:

The largest maker of Chinese fonts, is the company Founder. In fact, they supply fonts in Chinese, Japanese and Korean. ( You may have seen CJK as name of fontset ) Since 2001? it has been part of Microsoft XP - where they have much of their fonts from.

Founder Lanting is one of the fonts used. I know little about fonts, other then that many fonts are copyrighted. And English may not mean quite the same as we think. Several times I have come across words which seem to go under Hong Kong English in dictionaries. Point is, English release is not the same as European release. So, I think all what you guys have reported here makes logical sense.

Probably the problem is with Duokan software itself, not with font-files.

Since last week's update, trying to open some books makes Duokan system restart -- not a full restart, though. I just see the screen with Duokan reloading. I have stopped playing around with Duokan, awaiting further updates. Most of my requirements are better met by Kindle, but I am hopeful for better pdf and epub reading in Duokan. With NiLuJe's great work, Kindle is pretty good. And with Calibre, I have no real need for native epub reading.

Sometimes helps reloading Kindle folders. Try to set "Support Old System" to "No", then again to "Yes".

Very impressed! So many settings and easy to install. This won't read library ebooks that are DRM protected? Specifically epubs. Thanks in advance!

Not quite sure what you mean ? I have come across several issues with the latest version.
- you did mention invisible characters in an earlier post. Yes, it seem like some error when you wake it up from the screensaver. ( at least on K3 ) I may show a white page - if you enter menu, then it refreshes the screen. A second issue is updating time, which also will be corrected with a visit to menu-system-settings. Language input settings does not work as it should. Fonts-files is not correct yet, and there are still Microsoft terminated files in the system.

@trksh22: DRM is not supported. This may be Adobe, for example - which mean the system in question have installed some software on the platform. Example - Adobe - in other words, a 3rd party solution.

@Artemzr: - no news about the uninstall software yet.

@montalex - looks like some features is not called correctly or it is not fully implemented yet. Some calls seem to cause a refresh/restart. It is clear it has something to do with the latest release and new features.

Yes, something like that, I would think, and there are several nice features that may come. That it uses Stardict seem promising for other languages.

Don't understand this message but looks like it was removed to fix bugs, or to add in more features before the release.

Perhaps they are talking about special characters?
They still need to fix punctuation spacing and end of line errors as well as character encoding before I'll use it but it looks like it is making progress.

Also would like to see FB2 support, have a lot of FB2 books.

Left/Center justify toggle option would be nifty too.

I think this is the same issue.
The spacing in my opinion comes from a letter from a wrong (Chinese) font.
So the ä will not be displayed at all since there is no ä in Chinese, the ' (I think it was one of those) is displayed with the same width as a typical Chinese letter.

Why some letters are treated like this I have no idea...
