The offer apparently is still in effect. I'm giving, below, the experience that I had simply trying to find out what audiobooks that they have.

I was thinking about accepting the offer, but I wanted to peruse their selection of audiobooks first. Even though the webpage that I went to was about the free audiobooks offer, all that I could find was a "browse books" menu at the bottom of the webpage. That was not a hot link, but the category names below it were hot links. Trying one, I got a webpage that was replete with hardbacks and paperbacks (I didn't know, before then, that Audiobooks.com even sold paper-based books), but no audiobooks, that I could see; to say the least, that wasn't very helpful. The only other applicable information that I saw on that the webpage assured me that Audiobooks.com has "some of our favourite authors such as Dinah Jefferies, Joanna Cannon, Val McDermid, Katie Fforde, Philippa Gregory and thousands more!" among the choices. Again, not very helpful, to put it very mildly.

I finally found out how to do a search, filtering out everything but audiobooks. I went to the Audiobooks signup webpage. There are two lists at the bottom of the webpage, one was for "popular authors" and one was for "popular titles," with 8 items in each list. Once again, not helpful; I had to ignore those. Finally, I saw a button, near the top left of the webpage that says "Browse Books." Based on past experience, I was afraid that all that I would get would be dead-tree books. But, no, this time it appeared that there were only audiobooks(!). And they even were sorted into genres, too!

I wondered about getting a trial membership--would canceling the service be a hassle like that? This experience has really soured me on Audiobooks.com. If I do anything now, I'll "use them (for a couple of free audiobooks), and lose them."

I inferred, from a statement made in the webpage for "fine print" that tubemonkey posted, that it is automatic: "Eligible customers who pre-order a book between May 13, 2018 and May 18, 2018 will receive a $5 coupon." But I may be "reading too much into" that statement.

BTW--depending upon whether or not "May 18" is inclusive of May 18 or exclusive of May 18, we have either just less than two days or just less than one day, from now, to pull the trigger on this deal. I think that I remember that Audible moved from New Joyzee to the west coast; if so, the cut off time may be 12 p.m. PST on whichever day that the deal ends.
