Well, just as I was determined to buy no more books this month, a favourite author finally released a book that is well overdue. So, there goes that resolution, though I don't count it as a break from the dictates of this thread. Still, I could have wished he'd either released it last spring, when it was due, or next month when I could have justified it. OTOH, I anticipate a pleasurable weekend, so can't complain too strenuously.

Sheesh. I knew I was bad, but not this bad.

198 Amazon e-books that I want to read
76 finished
122 to read

76/198 = 38%! Now, that number includes some freebies, to be sure, but, it's still a truly unsightly number any way you look at it.

That's not too bad.

I've read 77 of 649 kindle books. (67 of 292 if I exclude freebies.)

Weirdly, the amount of money I've spent per book I've actually read seems to work out at roughly the cost of a brand new paperback.

Question for former Sony readers, have you stuck with Kobo, or pretty much abandoned it for something else? I now read almost all books on the Kindle app.

My figures are a bit better, percentage-wise, but a lot worse in absolute numbers.

2661 ebooks bought
1991 bought ebooks already read
641 to be read. (And 29 I've decided not to read)

So that's very nearly 75% read!

(Oh - and 110 freebies on my TBR pile as well, taking it to 751)

Yes, true Paul, but you do get through a lot of books annually! I don't have that excuse. A good reminder though. I had started a TBR LISTING, but never finished. A good project for this long weekend since during the day I will have too many interruptions to really listen or read.

I have GOT to stop getting cookbooks!

But cookbooks are reference books! Not the same thing as fiction at all.

I must admit to being extremely pleased with my October and November buying so far. I'm only $10 over budget now, and it seems that I will come in under budget for the year as a whole!

I am actually on target for my TBR challenge, as well.

I do have an 800-pager lined up for later in the month, though, so I hope there aren't too many good special offers.

Kudos to you both.

Thanks to policy changes at Kobo, my purchases in the past three months have been at what I consider entirely reasonable levels: only three books in September and seven in both October and November. I read faster than that, but given that I also read (listen to) pbooks, library books and audiobooks, the accumulation is climbing, but very slowly.

Depending on how I've done with Kobo coupons once the dust settles from the current contest, I'll either purchase just one high priority book or with a high coupon I'll add a couple more. I've probably got a book or two from Amazon on my December horizon, but I have no reason to expect more than a handful of purchases in toto.

Phew! Given current trends, in 2015 my TBR list could actually start to decline!

Well DONE! Honestly, I never thought you had a chance, so this is very well done indeed. (Of course, some thanks to Kobo coupons is also probably in order. )

Well, my target was only for it to grow more slowly. Next year will be even more slowly, and then maybe in 2016 I'll be looking for an actual fall.

Although maybe I'll get some filtering properly sorted and work out a more realistic version of my TBR. Then I can figure out whether I'm really making headway on the A-list or not.

Make that 76 of 201! I forgot that one of the books in my TBR pile is a "two-fer", and I just bought Mr. Mercedes and The Martian at their current deeply discounted prices on Amazon US. Those two move into the next two spots on my TBR after my current read.

I cannot read using the Kindle app. I find the margins on my iPhone 5 to be an abomination. The screen is too small to have such wide margins. Plus, the iOS app does not properly support KF8. So it's basically worthless (IMHO).

I am moving to a Kobo Aura H2O for the newer larger screen. I still am using the T1 as I my H2O doesn't yet have a cover but will soon as I'm going to order it tonight or tomorrow.

So the T1 is still the portable (take with me) Reader because it does have a cover.
