Starfish by Peter Watts is $2.99 at Amazon US.

I've not read Peter Watts. His Amazon author bio turned me off a little, but the book sounds very good.

Angelbound Origins Collection: Books 1-5 by Christina Bauer is free.

This is an indie series, of which I've read and enjoyed three of the books (Angelbound and Scala that are in this omnibus and Armageddon that isn't). The series is YA contemporary fantasy that's well written and fun to read. By way of testimonial, I originally got Angelbound for free, then paid for Scala and Armageddon, which were the only other two in the series at the time. The author has apparently written a number of other books since and rearranged the series order.
