Only six days to go until November!

I must admit that there's one or two books I'd like to buy, but I'm going to hold off until November, AND until I get a good coupon code.

I'm happy to report that I got past the Oct. 24th deadline without buying any westerns. It was tough, but I did it. I did get a book with the 50% kobo coupon, but it was actually for my sister (craft book and I already have the deadtree version). I would have probably bought more but the coupon only worked on one book. sigh. Yes, I need some of those fill-in Baen books, but since I'm not going to get to reading them for awhile, I can wait for a good coupon.

Hope the rest of you are doing well! Oh, and my nifty avatar is courtesy of Alan over in the Dresden Files thread. Isn't it neat?

I've succumbed to a halloween collection by Nancy Fulda that was on special offer at Amazon, but it was only £0.77. I shall read it on halloween!

October was my lowest spend on ebooks since February! Only $13.79 on 6 ebooks.

Subscriptions this month will make my total spend more, but I still hope to come in under $20 and only 5 books, all subscriptions. This might change if Kobo do a competition with good odds, because there are some books in favourite series that I'd like to get.

September was my best month. I bought only three books for about $14, which equalled my previous low expenditures in both January and April, but I bought five and six books respectively in those months. So, perversely, with a higher average cost September is the winner, since the point is also to cut down on the rate of accumulation.

October was not good, as I bought seven books for $50. Still far fewer books than during various Kobopaloozas, but clearly my average cost has skyrocketed. And since I've already bought two books this month for $9, it seems unlikely that I'll be able to match my September best in November, either.

I'm also not acknowledging the pbooks that have started creeping back into the house, because absent good Kobo coupons the pbook can be much cheaper. If this trend continues, I'll have to start accounting for it also.

Ah, ok, I just checked my orders and in fact, I bought only one book because it was $10 cheaper to get the pbook; the other pbooks weren't available electronically. I still should add a book and ten bucks to my October total, though. Sigh.

Overall, October wasn't my best month due to the Audible sale. $48 for 11 audiobooks plus 2 novellas. I will try to do better this month.

Almost all were wishlist books (Though some got added ^^

It would have been more, but I wasn't able to grab more 45%+ coupon codes. (Wishlist books)

Overall pretty good.

This month is probably going to be a huge splurge month because it's my birth month.

So 5 in this month already...

No book purchases during October. However, I only read one book so not much movement in the TBR list.

I started my Kindle Unlimited program this month. So far so good. Bought one ebook (a cookbook, not part of the program). I'm still behind on using up Audible credits, so I'm fine there. With the holidays approaching, I'm carefully checking series to complete by adding those missing books to my wishlist.

Well done, Paul. I wish I could say the same. I went out of my way to buy the new Catherine Asaro book, using up a perfectly good 50% coupon, only to abandon it 100 pages in. Let this be a LESSON! I really had no reason to go and buy it, I have WAY more to read than I will ever finish, but the lure of new caught me again.

It is sometimes hard to let go of series when either you or the author has changed.

Very true. But conversely, some series that I passed on in the past are now a better fit. Peter Robinson's books, for example, never really worked for me. But now, I'm finding I like them quite a bit.

This month I got 2 ebooks on Tiny House living and 2 cookbooks but I also brought 2 books from Ollies which are also cookbooks. I however did not re-subscribe to Mother Earth News for next year and let 2 other subscriptions end this year. I also only purchased 1 blu-ray this month, How to train Your Dragon 2 and watched it 5 times already.
