I went through a pretty brutal pruning of my Calibre library yesterday, seeing what books I really wanted to read and ones that would probably never/definitely never get read. The "probably never read" ones were just deleted from Calibre, but can be re-downloaded from their webstore of origin again if I so desire. The "definitely never read" were deleted from Calibre, but were also deleted from my Amazon media library. Now, I have 495 book TBR, rather than over 600. It now seems more manageable, as 4 years worth of books I'll actually want to read seems like less of a task.

Yup, they are enablers in a good way. My entire Tony Dunbar collection consists of BookBub specials. I have found some new authors where it was worth buying more of their books, which of course is the whole idea. You are right, they are getting backed up.

I made it for last week, and am still going strong. i bought two yesterday but they were only to complete the Vorkosigan series, which I already had most of already, so I don't count them.

I am happy to report that it is now the 18th and while I did buy one ebook, I RETURNED IT (it wasn't what I thought it was)! So, other than the missing Galaxy mag titles I got at the beginning of the month, I have not bought anything new. I'm trying to be strong.

I am most impressed. I have only bought 5 ebooks so far this month, and they were all subscription issues. If there's a good Kobo coupon (65% off or more) there is one other ebook I'd like to buy, but I'll resist if there isn't a good coupon.

The Audible sale snuck in and took a sideswipe at me. I'm trying to staunch the flow. It's not too gory, but it will leave a mark.

It hasn't been a brilliant month for me, so far - I fell for another bundle early in the month, various sales and daily deals, and last week bought a brand new hardback (my second of the year, and probably the future of my pbook consumption) - so I'm probably going to have to read a few short works to get back on track.

And yet again I have replaced* some pbooks with ebooks, only to find I was missing a book I thought I had. I bought Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy, then sorting through my paperbacks to find my old copies, I failed to find Blue Mars. Checking my old book database it looks like I never had it. I must have borrowed it from the library, or something. The same thing happened with Wheel of Time earlier in the year. If anything, it shows how little I really need to keep hold of these old books, if I don't even know what I'm missing.

Still, books I've already read don't count towards the TBR.

*Well, I will have, when I actually remember to take them to a charity shop.

Had a near miss yesterday but fortunately, it wouldn't take a Kobo coupon. But, I did put the ebook on my wishlist.
