What Are You Listening to Right Now? - Page 206

Listening to a bunch of old 45 rpm records. If anyone had told me 10 years ago that I would ever feel any kind of nostalgia for the 80's (I was a teenager/young adult then), even in the very mild form of listening to old records, I would have shot them on the spot. I'm scared, is this the first sign of senility?

Florence, I quite often get nostalgic and miss things that are in the past (not just music but also people that were special to me, places and situations.) Nostalgia is a strange thing; it can make me happy to remember and also sad that some things can't ever be the same as they once were. Would we choose to have no memories?

I can't imagine a worse nightmare than finding myself transported back in the 80's

I don't mind the memories, they are what make me what I am, but I don't want to be nostalgic. The only thing I had during these years that I could ever want now is youth

I still like some of the music from the 80's. I'm not nostalgic for the period at all though. I far prefer being my current age, it's easier to be different when you're almost 40 than in your teens

He was on telly here a week or so ago arguing in favour of a three-strikes policy for music downloaders.
Wonder how he feels about being on YouTube.
