Same feeling, different reason. Pineapple contains an enzyme that breaks down proteins and it works on the proteins in your tongue. Cooking destroys the enzyme, though, which is why canned pineapple doesn't do that.

Good morning, everyone! Every day temps have been in the mid to high 30's. The Rainy Season is being fitful, no giving us daily rains to cool things down. It will rain this afternoon, but didn't rain for the past three days, and won't again until Thursday or Friday. It's HOT!

But the heat doesn't slow down my tea drinking. This morning I've got "English Breakfast" tea from the Viang Joom On's tea shop along the River Ping. It really was a very happy find for me, as it's a hearty breakfast brew. Not cheap, but worth the price. I just wish this shop also carried Assam and Keemun teas. Unfortunately all their other teas are 'flavored.'

A big glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. At this time of the year, we're getting California Navels still. Quite pulpy and flavourful, though not as juicy as a good Valencia-style orange.
