Oh, I understand. But I think of Highland Park as "dinner scotch". Not like a good Islay.

Home again! And lovin' it!

Good morning, everyone! Three days in Bangkok is two days too many! Crowded huge city, hot and sticky, noisy... but really alive! I accomplished what I set out to do there (sell a couple of camera lenses,) so the trip wasn't wasted effort, but it's sure nice to be back in the mountains again. Chiang Mai is a city that thinks it's a small town, and it certainly feels that way!

This morning I'm drinking Viang Joom On's "English Breakfast" tea, and loving it! I forgot to bring tea with me this trip, and was reduced to drinking Lipton's Yellow Label tea for the past few days. There is no place like home!

Today, drinking nothing but carbonated water. The temperature is going to be in the 30's all weekend and hydration is important. (And yes, I know that's nothing compared to what you live with, Stitchawl, but there is the matter of acclimatization. ) Besides, I have this new Sodastream and might as well use it.

Ooohhh .... instant fizzy water! I had a soda syphon years ago - got tired of remembering to buy those tiny CO2 cartridges ... but I really liked having fresh fizz!

We got a model with the Large size cylinder. The real problem with these is getting the cylinder refilled. You must go to one of their outlets. It's a racket, though there are ways around it.

I used to do incredibly dangerous (in other words, stupid!!!) things with those little CO2 cartridges. Sometimes I wonder how I'm still alive. Just more item on the list of "Things my kids must never know I did."


Right now my third mug of tea is waiting in the kitchen.

I have a sodastream that I used religiously for over a year. I know it sounds crazy but it got to the point where my tongue felt it was burning from it

That's not crazy at all. Carbonated water is slightly acidic (in fact, it's called "carbonic acid"). If you drink enough, it'll make your tongue a little bit raw.
