Good morning (I think,) everyone. Happy Sunday. Really rough workout yesterday at the Fencing Salle, and this morning everything hurts. Even my eyebrows hurt. We had some members of the Thai National team show up so the competition was really fierce. I fenced six Foil bouts and five Epee bouts (each a full 15-point match,) mostly against guys half my age (two of them 1/3 my age) and this morning I'm paying for it. But wow... what a wonderful day it was! And judging by the results, I just might pull off a reprise of last year's Royal Thai Navy Open International tournament!

So this morning I'm drinking East India Company's "Royal Breakfast" tea, and getting ready to take a bath in Tiger Balm before setting out for a 10k speed walk. I've got three months to get in shape for the big tournament!

But it was my DW's birthday, so we had a bottle of Bollinger, which went very well with the shrimp risotto I made.

Then a nightcap of Bruichladdich Port Charles - a fascinating creation - they started with the original Bruichladdich (which has a highly floral taste palate) and peated it heavily! Result = a light (looks like Dewars in color) crisp base, with slight floral taste to start, that ends with a heavy peat finish on the sides & back of the tongue ... drinks very well in hot weather - light but powerful ...

Having a bit of cranberry juice this early morning before heading down to the hotel breakfast with bad orange juice and undrinkable coffee.
