something weird
hey... something weird is happening
I could not get my css to work as supposed, so I connected the reader to the PC to check the style.css file... To my surprise, the contents of style.css are not correct. After a few tests, I found several different issues with style.css: - sometimes, it ends up and shows a last row full of NULLNULLNULLNULLNULL - sometimes it only takes part of the original .css file and ends abruptly - one time I even found out it had some xml code with nothing related at all with my .css files!! It had names of books from my internal memory, and also ended abruptly... any hint?? I'm running PRS+ v2.013 Thanks! |

yolan,
A) to my knowledge the epub-renderer is using its own, build in set of fonts, so using the "asInLRF" CSS is necessary B) there seems to be a problem with the internal file-copy / file-create funtions. Over the last days I noticed a similar behaviour with my beta-settings files. I would suggest a full shutdown and restart, or a soft reset, as it is easy to corrupt the file-system of our 505th. If that dosn't cure it. Try CHKDSK or format IM (after backing up your files) HTH Mark |

I've done all you mentioned at one moment or another... but still, I get this corrupt style.css file sometimes The fact is I've been playing around with different CSS lately and when I noticed that I could not find a regular pattern of behaviour... I checked the style.css and found all the weird stuff... and saw this happening again and again At some point, I even got an "Invalid Format" error and had to re-format the internal memory and reload all my books and stuff.. but even formatting did not solve the issue. So my guess is that style.cc gets corrupt when created or changed... in fact, sometimes the original .css file from which it is copied, gets corrupted too... and shows this row full of NULLNULLNULLNULL I don't rememeber this thing happening before... I'm attaching one of my .css files in case anyone wants to reproduce the problem. Thank you! |

2 Feedbacks
Good morning from Germany, here 2 feedbacks I would like to share:
1. Notes to txt file: Simply great! One idea: It would be the last step to perfection if you offered this feature also while reading the book. So e.g. I am reading at page five => double click on the right high corner (bookmark) => click on the corner => a windows opens => I choose to make a note 'by keyboard' Could you please extend that note-2-txt also at this point 'while reading'. That would be great!!!! 2. Topic 'calendar' Sometimes I am on vacation and I would like to have a new Event-'Type' where I could do this: Add 1 new event and say: Vacation from day 25 of June to 1 of August. Something like that. A From-To-Date Type Event with 1 entry/event. Would it be possible to achive? Greetings to all! |

yolan,
io code didn't change for a while and a lot of users are using css feature. mount --bind to /Data could be causing problems. If fonts are small enough, copy them to /tmp or /var and mount from there (I don't remember which one is bigger on 505) For recovering corrupt memory problems with checkdisk / format better first boot in safe mode (side effect of loading with usb connected is, that UI will not touch/cache the file system, so you could fix it). |

Thanks Kartu,
I'm sorry I don't quite understand the purpose of your suggestion. mount --bind is used to substitute the default LRF fonts... but these work fine on LRF, no complaint ! The problem is that when I switch between .css files (referring to the new LRF fonts or to other fonts) style.css gets corrupted... how would copying to /tmp or /var help? Sorry I may be missing something out of ignorance... :-( Could you test the .css file I posted, an see if it works for you? Maybe some content in it is causing all the mess... I'm planning to do this: - Remove PRS+ (it seems to always leave a trace, it remembers the previous settings, how can I completely get rid of it?) - Reflash the device with sony firmware -Format memory - Re-install PRS+ Any suggestion before I start messing around? :-) Big Thanks !! Before I break anything, let me ask... ![]() To do a mount --bind from /tmp, what should I do? I'm modifying prs.sh this way: cp /Data/fonts/tt0003m_.ttf /tmp cp /Data/fonts/tt0011m_.ttf /tmp cp /Data/fonts/tt0419m_.ttf /tmp mount --bind /tmp /opt/sony/ebook/FONT Is it correct? Sorry for my poor knowledge ![]() |

prsp.sh looks fine.
I'd chain up commands like this: cp /Data/fonts/tt0003m_ttf /tmp && cp /Data/fonts/tt0011m_ttf /tmp && cp /Data/fonts/tt0419m_ttf /tmp && mount --bind /tmp /opt/sony/ebook/FONT && mount >> /Data/mount.log This way if copy fails, you won't "bind" it and you get a log with what has happened. You can't break anything, if something goes wrong, reset boot in "safe mode". |

Kartu !
It seems to be solved now, after formatting and copying to /tmp mount.log should only appear if anything goes wrong, yes? Thank you very much. |

![]() No mount.log in the root of internal memory Maybe there is something wrong with the last step of the command line... I can see the new fonts in LRF books, so the fonts seem to be correctly replaced and the mount --bind done.. cp /Data/fonts/tt0003m_.ttf /tmp && cp /Data/fonts/tt0011m_.ttf /tmp && cp /Data/fonts/tt0419m_.ttf /tmp && mount --bind /tmp /opt/sony/ebook/FONT && mount >> /Data/mount.log |

YOLAN: Maybe I can help (though I'm just referring to knowledge from others):
If I understand you right you want to mound other system-fonts. I wanted the same: mound other system-fonts on my 350. But mounding single fonts didn't work at all as man can read here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=155059 Solution: Copy all 4 (!) fonts in a folder and mound the folder, like: mount --bind /Data/fonts /opt/sony/ebook/FONT Fonts in Root/fonts/ Works great. Problem was to get the 4th font which is quite large (~10MB) for the dic. A. Edit: YOLAN: In your first post you mentioned corrupt (CSS)-files. I have had some corrupt files too. Reason was simple a corrupt memory (which is easy to correct with reformatting the memory of the reader as you did). The other problem is (you are not alone) the CSS-file sometimes doesn't work. I solved this issue in two ways: 1) produce the 'ultimate' CSS-file (work in progress) 2) substitute system fonts That leads in having Caecilia as system fonts and additionally Caecilia mentioned in a CSS-file. Analogus,
that new file only applies to 600 and newer models, but not to 505. yolan, then just add new line to prsp.sh file: mount >> /Data/mount.log to check which fiels were actually mounted. IMPORTANT: end of line symbols MUST be unix style, i.e. \n, not \r\n |
