I’m always tempted by the annual plans, especially with the free devices, but Audible is going to have to prove to me that the regular freebies are going to stop. I’ve got about 35 credits for roughly $35 in the past 4 years. Can’t beat that. Now if we go 6-12 months with none of those offers, I’ll likely bite on one of these annual plans.

I just wanted to quote that part again.

I like it.

Yep, if I had 12 credits, they'd be gone in a matter of minutes.

It seems like those offers have dried up, though. I originally signed up for a yearly plan last Prime day, and I think the only offer since then was the recent one for rejoining.

Pretty sure there have been at least four months of free credits in the past year. I’d check my membership history, but Audible has apparently removed that option from the account details page.

I'm on a 24 a year plan in the UK, and it's ridiculously cheap there -- £109 ($149 USD) if I remember correctly. The plan is definitely available in the US, but there it's overpriced at ~$225 USD. I have a monthly plan in the US, and am actually thinking of abandoning it.

And certainly some folks, like the TV and phone industry, do it differently, with contracts and ETF penalties in exchange for doling out their services monthly at a lower price.

Thread drift is threatening to get out of hand in more than one thread in this forum. Drift that's organic to the topic at hand is fine, as is repartee that's inclusive. But once drift devolves into private jokes or has exhausted the humor in a particular eddy, it's time to get back on topic.

Some exchanges would be better taken to PM or else the Lounge instead of wasting the time of other members who come here because of new posts only to find that personal exchanges from which they're excluded are taking place, and again and again.

I know everyone means well and is just having fun, but try to be aware if you're posting in the right place for a particular exchange.

Sync Audio -- Weekly Offers -- FAQs & Help -- exp 10 May @ 7 AM ET

Quote:
Week 2 -- Welcome to Week 2 of our 2018 SYNC season! This week’s pair of audiobooks includes a nonfiction and author-narrated book that will take you places you might find beyond imagination, and a novel, also performed by the author, about which we’re sure you’ve heard friends enthusing.
FREE -- The Devil's Highway -- Luis A Urrea/ LA Urrea --> 8.9 hrs --> NF soc sci
Quote:
The author of "Across the Wire" offers brilliant investigative reporting of what went wrong when, in May 2001, a group of 26 men attempted to cross the Mexican border into the desert of southern Arizona. Only 12 men came back out.

"Superb . . . Nothing less than a saga on the scale of the Exodus and an ordeal as heartbreaking as the Passion . . . The book comes vividly alive with a richness of language and a mastery of narrative detail that only the most gifted of writers are able to achieve.--Los Angeles Times Book Review
FREE -- Solo -- Kwame Alexander, et al/ K Alexander --> 4.0 hrs --> literary
Quote:
New York Times bestseller! Blade never asked for a life of the rich and famous. In fact, he’d give anything not to be the son of Rutherford Morrison, a washed-up rock star and drug addict with delusions of a comeback. Or to no longer be part of a family known most for lost potential, failure, and tragedy, including the loss of his mother. The one true light is his girlfriend, Chapel, but her parents have forbidden their relationship, assuming Blade will become just like his father. In reality, the only thing Blade and Rutherford have in common is the music that lives inside them. And songwriting is all Blade has left after Rutherford, while drunk, crashes his high school graduation speech and effectively rips Chapel away forever. But when a long-held family secret comes to light, the music disappears. In its place is a letter, one that could bring Blade the freedom and love he’s been searching for, or leave him feeling even more adrift.
