I virtual travel a lot.

Also note that while you are free to shop on any Audible storefront certain books are geo-restricted. Just change your country in manage your Kindle on Amazon and you will be able to buy anything. Geo-Restrictions on Digital files is behind stupid.
Very informative. I don't know if I'll have the ambition to check the Amazon sites in all of those countries.

When you purchase an ebook from a non-U.S., I'm sure that Amazon can go ahead and use the credit card that they have on file for you. Is there a currency conversion charge? If so, is it fairly modest?

I wonder how proud Harvard University was of their Dr. Timothy Leary (of the "tune in, turn on, drop out" fame) and the part that he helped play in helping kids kill themselves with psychedelic drugs like LSD, or mess up their lives because of such drug use. I don't know that Leary ever expressed penitence; he continued his own personal use of LSD after he quit publicly advocating it.

I think that Harvard finally did fire him, but it may have been on a pretense and not because of his advocacy of LSD or his personal use of it.

Again, I did not see this posted anywhere else on this thread, including the O.P. My profuse apologies if it has already been posted.

Audible is offering 400+ books starting at just $4.95 each. In fact, they are showing on the sale's webpage that there are 472 of them. There are three price points: $4.95, $5.95, and $6.95.

They're calling it one of their "Treat Yourself Sales." This sale ends November 29, 2016 at 11:59 pm PT.

I got the message in an email from Audible. When I clicked on the click to go to the sale, I was directed to a sign in page. After I signed in, I was directed to this webpage: https://www.audible.com/mt/TreatYour...OREM1114169IU4. You may be able to access it directly; if you can't, try truncating the URL.

My paid membership is the ListenerLight (I think that they call it something else now) plan, which is $9.99/year or something. Knowing about such sales is one nice little benefit to the membership. Can't participate in any of the credits sales . . . .

There are absolutely too many sales going on today. It's better than the sheer madness of Black Fridays until recent years, though. I don't go anywhere to buy on B.F.--what I do is all online. That helps greatly.

Book about Winston Churchill--Very Highly Rated, and Whispersync Deal is Only $5.98!

Unfortunately for Hitler, he was born at a time when two of the greatest leaders in the 20th century, if not over a broader period of time--Winston Churchill and Franklin Delano Roosevelt--would be available, at the right time, to defeat him. I am a great admirer of both of those leaders. This Whispersync deal is a must-purchase for me.

Please note that, while this book discusses Churchill's military leadership, it is primarily oriented toward covering his political views and actions.

Remember to check the libraries where you have borrowing privileges and see if they have the Kindle ebook. If so, you can save $1.99, making the Whispersync deal only $3.99. And, since you are on the Deals, Freebies, and Resources thread right now, I know that you like saving money.

While I am on the subject, don't hesitate to put a hold on the ebook if it is checked out. The Audible audio narration portion of a Whispersync deal rarely fluctuates in price; however, the ebook portion very frequently does. And, since there is a markdown on this ebook at the current time, it is most likely to go up in price, not down.

Title: Churchill's Trial: Winston Churchill and the Salvation of Free Government.

Ebook Rating/Number of Reviews: 4.7 stars/161 reviews (Amazon).
Audio Rating/Number of Ratings: 4.4/42 ratings.
Pages/Audio Length: 240/10 hours and 20 minutes.
Narrator(s): Wayne Campbell.

Book Description (Amazon):
No statesman shaped the twentieth century more than Winston Churchill. To know the full Churchill is to understand the combination of boldness and caution, of assertiveness and humility, that defines statesmanship at its best. With fresh perspective and insights based on decades of studying and teaching Churchill, Larry P. Arnn explores the greatest challenges faced by Churchill over the course of his extraordinary career, both in war and peace—and always in the context of Churchill’s abiding dedication to constitutionalism.

Churchill’s Trial is organized around the three great challenges to liberty that Churchill faced: Nazism, Soviet communism, and his own nation’s slide toward socialism. Churchill knew that stable free government, long enduring, is rare, and hangs upon the balance of many factors ever at risk. Combining meticulous scholarship with an engrossing narrative arc, this book holds timely lessons for today. Arnn says, “Churchill’s trial is also our trial. We have a better chance to meet it because we had in him a true statesman.”

In a scholarly, timely, and highly erudite way, Larry Arnn puts the case for Winston Churchill continuing to be seen as statesman from whom the modern world can learn important lessons. In an age when social and political morality seems all too often to be in a state of flux,
Churchill’s Trial reminds us of the enduring power of the concepts of courage, duty, and honor.

--Andrew Roberts, New York Times bestselling author of Napoleon: A Life and The Storm of War
(Several other book descriptions, from other people, are on the book's webpage at Amazon).
