The 'perkopolis' coupon got me pretty good this month. Of course the books weren't that expensive to begin with but I think I've bought more this month than I have since I got my e-reader.

I wish I could get 75% coupons. All I get are 10%, 25% or if I'm lucky, 30%!

The 75% off competition coupons listed in the first post in this thread will work in US, UK and Canada. For this competition, coupons seem to be valid for one use per account.

I did use a 75% coupon that someone posted. It's a nice discount for sure.

Oh dear. The 75% off coupons have had their way with me again. 11 books bought in the past five days for less than $20! And all by favourite authors.

Unfortunately, I have to face the fact that I still have 158 unread books from the 247 books I've bought so far this year. I am still buying books far faster than I read them.

Drastic action is called for. I've just checked the Baen website, and they now have up the Baen ebook release for the next four months. I have selected the ones I really, really want to read immediately (just four in all), but I will only buy them if I can get them with a good (75% I hope) Kobo discount!

Adding in my subscriptions, that would be just 19 books bought over the next four months.

OK, I'm going to aim for that! No other books will be bought! And if I keep to it, I'll come in $49.25 under budget for the year!

I took a chance on some new authors, and I'm very glad I got the 75% discount on that set. I don't feel nearly as bad about flushing 75 cents each as I would about three bucks each...

I'm beginning to worry that I may have aimed for something I'm very unlikely to succeed at. I think I'll take it one month at a time. OK. September here I come!

This sounds like me.
Although, I won't have as much fun money to throw around then, so it'll probably be a bit easier.

The 75%s have done me in, too. I've bought about 15 books either using the discounts or as a result of looking for things to use them on and finding other bargains. I had had a quiet August until then, and I've read way more than in any other month since I started tracking, but I've still ended up losing ground. And a few more codes have come in today...

Maybe a chapter of the EBBA? (EBook Buyers Anonymous) I went a bit crazy with the coupon this month as well.

There are still five unused 75% Kobo coupons, and I don't believe I have the willpower to just let them go unused. Even though I have an embarrassing supply of unread books. But my only two active addictions are coffee and books. Somehow that doesn't seem so terrible. So apparently I only come to this thread to justify buying too many books...which doesn't seem fair to participants more strenuously dedicated to controlling themselves.

If I use those coupons tonight, tomorrow I can swear off buying books until the next contest or until next year. Maybe Kobo won't keep tempting us with loopholes. Surely no company could have so many enticing contest errors and loopholes unless it was on purpose.

I guess the only good thing out of the Kobo contest this time round with all their new lousy rate and geographical restrictions is that I didn't manage to buy as many books as I would have (going by my wishlist) since many of them are non-discountable in the US/UK/CA store. I did buy a few books, less than 10, but adding to the books from my previous buying frenzy I highly doubt my TBR pile will be cleared any time soon LOL!

I still want to buy some of the other books in my wishlist and keeping my fingers crossed that maybe Kobo will remove the restrictions for the next contest.

I had some stern words with myself after yesterday's splurge. I had nothing really pressing to spend those last four 75% codes. I'd emptied my wishlists of non-agency books bar a couple that were still too expensive even after 75% off, and then I'd dreamed up a few more books on top of that. There was nothing sensible I could possibly spend those last four codes on.

So, obviously, I've bought four more books today.

I know the feeling! There seems to be something wrong with letting a 75% off coupon expire unused.

But next month I shall be strong! If I'm lucky enough to get another 75% off coupon, it will only be used on the one Baen ebook I intend buying!
