What I should be doing is setting up the "buy now" links on my web site for videos. What I am actually doing is browsing the forum and drinking Beaujolais. Which doesn't help at all with the typing, by the way.

But it is a much better way to enjoy the day.

I'm spending my time trying to find as many things to do as possible just to avoid edging and mowing the lawns.

I just got home from shopping at the Korean market. It was almost like "walking dim sum" today, with all of the ladies offering samples from little stations set up around the frozen food section (mostly steamed dumplings). I had a little giggle when I asked one of them if the pork buns she had came in smaller sizes. (They were HUGE, nothing like you would get in a restaurant, but tasty.) She grinned and said, "No, no smaller size! Everything is so big in America you know!"

I just hope her dim sum are not like American fruits and vegetables - big but tasteless.

Seriously, though, the supermarket imported fruits and vegetables are what the majority of Americans eat, I think, and those can be pretty tasteless. A lot of us have made an effort to get our food more locally, though, and good heirloom vegetables grown with care here will compare favorably with anybody's vegetables.

Almost all imported fruits and veggies have to be picked before they ripen. Otherwise they would be rotten by the time they reach the markets. So they pick them 'green' then spray them with ethylene gas just prior to arrival. This gas causes the ripening process to begin, but with the produce no longer being attached to the vine/tree/bush, etc., they don't get the benefit of the host flavors.

I remember buying a peach in Georgia, one day while riding through some rural area and stopping at a farm stand, that almost made my head explode because of the intense peach flavor. It's a shame they don't have farms inside cities...
