Interesting situation. At the present moment, you can mouse-over the "Audio CD" and "MP3 CD" links, but if you try it for the "Download" option, you get no link. When I tried "Buy Now" options on several titles, I was directed to its Audible page (Tantor was shown as the publisher of all of them, however).

I have confidence that everything will be in working order come Nov. 28. In fact, in the last 5 years or more I have had only pleasant experiences purchasing from Tantor.

I miss the old $4.99 and $6.99 Tantor download sales from when they were trying to convince Recorded Books to buy them.

They still do $6.99 sales (though not on everything) quite regularly. I'm holding out hope for something good on Cyber Monday - they did good last year (my wife bought several titles).

UPDATE: I went ahead and took the plunge to give this a try. Here's my random thoughts:

• As Catlady mentioned, the percentage of books that can be downloaded (vs. the DRM titles) is pretty large.
• The process of signing up for the trial, searching for/selecting a book, and downloading your purchase is very easy.
• The downloads (at least the one I got) are of decent quality (96 bps mp3).
• You'll need to give a CC # when you sign up, but you won't be charged (even the usual and customary $1 test charge) until your 30-day period is up.
• Signing up and cancelling seems to be a simple process.
• Selection seems comparable to Downpour, though it isn't as easy to see a full count (no "browse all" function).
• You'll be able to get 1 free download with your trial membership, but it must be from their "free premium" list. I don't know if you can get more than one per month once you are paying, but I doubt it.

Overall, not bad. I'd be more likely to do more business with them if it wasn't for the "membership" only getting you 50% off your book. If I wanted a membership discount I'd be more likely to use AudiobookStore.com.

Dumb question re Groupon. I just canceled Audible and was checking the details for the Groupon offer of two free months (which I "purchased" a few weeks back). I have the offer in my Groupon account, I'm looking at the redemption instructions, and they're telling me:

3. Enter the redemption code found in the middle of your Groupon into the field provided and click "Redeem."

I don't see a redemption code anywhere. Am I supposed to print the voucher? I'm hesitating because when I click on that box I get a pop-up implying I would have to use it right away, which I'm not ready to do.

The redemption code is in the voucher. It'll be there when you're ready to use the voucher by whatever options it gives you - download, print, or view.

Thanks, I figured it must be, but do I have to use it right away--i.e., does printing out the voucher start a clock running that is different from the 90 days Groupon said I had to redeem the offer?

My concern is waiting long enough for Audible to accept the code so I don't lose out on the offer.

Anyone who got both versions of Wuthering Heights as this month's Audible Whispersync freebie might want to check that both versions actually downloaded. I just downloaded both, I thought, but ended up with only one of them. When I moved it from the Audible download folder, I was able to download the second version.

P.S. Oops, it looks like I spoke too soon. What I thought was the second version, is actually a second copy of the one I already got. The Emma Messenger narration is downloading in place of the Flo Gibson version. I am going to contact Audible.

P.P.S. Audible is looking into it. I had tried to download the Enhanced format for the Gibson version, which gave me the Messenger version. However, it turns out that with a switch to format 4, the Gibson version downloads properly.

So the bottom line is, if you think you downloaded the Gibson Enhanced version, you should check; even though it will show as the Gibson version in your library, your download manager, and your Audible manager (as it did for me), it could actually be the Messenger version.

There seem to be some good prices--the first two books of Mary Stewart's Merlin series are $6.74 apiece, for example. I've seen a lot of titles in the $5-7 range.
