Well, I just went to the kindle store and bought _Pillars of the Earth_ ($6.36). I hope it is as awesome as everyone has told me.

That's a superb book, Bob, as is *World Without End*. Both present Follett at his very best. And you're doing the right thing by reading *Pillars of the Earth* first, I think. Although the novels are stand-alone, there is come continuity. Happy reading. Neil

Pillars of the Earth has been on my to-read list for a while. Let me know what you think!

I agree with Neil - 'Pillars of the Earth' is an excellent read.
It's a long book, but very easy to get in to. ![]() |

Just finished reading *Bottom of the list* by Steve Attridge.
An amusing and at times hilarious read based around the life and characters at a fictitious university. If you like the books by Tom Sharpe you will enjoy this. Full synopsis and details here Last edited by roger the rabbit; 11-18-2009 at 09:54 AM. Reason: :) |

That's *Bottom of the List* by Steve Attridge, Rog. A rose by any other name, though ... Glad you liked it. Good fun and with a follow-up next year. As you say, shades of Tom Sharpe. Cheers. Neil

If anyone else wants to take a run at *Bottom of the List*, by the way. Just holler and I'll send it through to you. A really fun piece of work by a superb writer (tried and tested in major cinema, TV and theatre work before this first novel) -- but with dark shades of reality. ntmarrATbewrite.net (use the @ sign). Cheers. NEil

Just finished Kindred in Death by J.D. Robb. The first two hundred pages or so were amazing, best book in the series, some great character development etc. Then it started dragging, and I was not completely happy with the ending
![]() Not sure what I'll read next. I am trying to clear some space on my reader so I may head into my backlog of magazines and try to knock some shorter titles off the reader that way ![]() |
