Cats are the most effective escape artists God ever put on this green earth! If there is a space 1" wide, a cat will push, and push, and push its head into that space until they can get their entire body through it... no matter where it goes.

We bought several meters of 'anti-cat' matting; the stuff with the plastic spines on it (think: bed of nails) that 'supposedly' cat's won't walk on. I came outside one day and found Felicity sound asleep... lying on the matting...

I just saw Water for Elephants, and I really enjoyed it. Not the best movie I've seen, but definitely worth the watch.

We used this on top of the dryer - which sits just inside the back door - to try & dissuade Sammy cat from waiting there and trying to jump out the back door. She learned to drag clothes from on top of the washer onto the dryer so that she could comfortably stand on the mat. Now it doesn't bother her at all either.
