Hi! I'm Kaz and I'm a Sony Whore!

I have plans to check out the 600 this weekend and, if the screen clarity is better than the 700, will buy it. My daughter, whose eyesight is much better than mine, wants my 700 (including it's fuschia M-edge cover).

I can't see the Daily being of interest to me. It's just too big for my purposes.

If your M-edge cover fits for the 600, keep the cover as the 600 does not come with a cover.

That would work, if I didn't NEED to have a NEW cover for my NEW reader.

It's like buying a new dress and wearing your old black pumps. Yuk! New dress = New shoes New reader = New cover.

But others would probably like to know how well the 600 fits in the 700 cover.

And as far as having to get new clothes, I'm happy with my old stuff. The best pants are old worn faded jeans that are getting to the point of just about to have holes. Sneakers don't get tossed until they get ripped or have holes. And I have a T-shirt that's from (I think) 1983 (It has a year on the front but I'm not going to go look for it now). So a slightly older cover with a new reader is fine for me as long as the cover works.

In that case I'd never buy a new cover... I hate new shoes...

Jon, you are such a MAN! Pffft, no new clothes?!?! Sacrilege!! :shakesheadinwonder:

As for the cover, I plan to see how well it fits and will definitely let you know when I post my critique of the 600. At the very least, I'll need to know whether to order a 505 or 700 cover for the 600.

You see, men know how to be comfortable. That's why we don't like new clothes.

One thing I did forget to do the other day was check the size of the 600 vs the 505.

Yes, please do!

(and I agree with Jon, buying clothes is evil... and I'm not a man!)

On the video review someone posted, I think it was MobileTech, they stated that the 600 was the same size as the 505. So, slightly smaller than the 700. I had actually bought a cloth cover for my 700 that was originally intended for the 505. Because it was fabric and could stretch a bit, it fit the 700 just fine. I don't know if the same could have been said for the leather M-edge cover, though. I plan to take my 700 (with it's cover) when I go to Sony tomorrow to do some comparisons. I'll let you know what I find.

To be honest, Sweetpea, since I've gotten older (and rounder) and since we've moved so far out (the nearest shopping mall is an hour away), I dislike clothes shopping, too! Also, since I don't work, comfortable clothes like jeans and t-shirts are just fine for me. I love the life of the unemployed!

I agree 100%

I need a hot red cover for the new 600 I have on order. I'm not convinced the cover available from Sony is sexy enough.

I've posted my review of the Sony 600 in Nate's First Hand Reports thread . They were sold out, though, so I'm totally depressed now.

Covers.....

I got a new PRS-600 on Tuesday. The 505 cover does fit the 600 - but the one with the light does not - the screen may be the same size but the cut out in the new form factor is lower so the light wedge doesn't match up. Drat - since this one has no internal light and has a more reflective surface and external light (and more glare) is inevitable for reading in low light conditions. And I certainly don't want to spend another $70 if they reboot the design of the lighted cover for the 600.

On another note, I reverted back to vers. 2.5 of the Ebook Library software. After numerous calls to level 2 support over the course of the week I could not get vers 3.0 to work on my Vista machine (it would spontaneously freeze the app or close it whenever I tried to copy books to the Reader - after doing the whole uninstallation ballet that Sony walks you through - multiple times). It works fine on XP so I know it is not the Reader - and everything works as expected with vers 2.5.

Sony - please don't release S/W until you know it works.....
